For many of us, the bedroom is the oasis of the home; a place to relax, unwind, and most of all, rest. It makes sense, then, that a neutral palette remains a mainstay for many of us. And while some may want to stray away from it because of its popularity, its versatility means that there are endless ways to make a neutral space feel one-of-a-kind.

Take Olivia Culpo's bedroom, for example. The model shared a glimpse of her room on her Instagram page, and we love the layered neutral look she has going on.

According to design experts, one of the best ways to make a neutral bedroom feel interesting is to experiment with headboards and bed frames.

'Oversized headboards remain a staple, and we overwhelmingly find customers opt for neutral fabrics,” says Claire Schifano, global marketing director at Vispring. “They create a sense of quiet luxury and evolve easily with new colour schemes over time.'

Olivia has taken on the trendy four-poster frame, which is striking in black, contrasting the light, airy bedroom.

Materials are also critical in making a neutral space visually engaging. Natural materials give a bedroom a lived-in, welcoming feel, as well as contributing to a relaxing atmosphere.

'From natural linens to rich weaves, a well-chosen neutral fabric brings both calm and texture to a bedroom,' Claire continues. 'It’s the ultimate backdrop for layering – whether with tonal cushions or bolder seasonal accessories.'

To get Olivia's look, start with a foundation of layered, soft bedding in varied neutrals, and accessorize around it with wood furniture, textured rugs, and soft lighting.
