This one detail in Sharon Stone’s entryway completely changed my approach to shelving – it's unique, but somehow replicable
Sharon's twist on the classic sideboard sees her use it as a display shelf for sentimental objects, proving that it's truly multi-functional

Credenzas are often synonymous with concealment; chic storage methods that keep clutter at bay while providing a focal point in a living room or entryway.
Sharon Stone, however, is giving me some other credenza ideas with her bench-style sideboard, which she uses more as a display shelf than a cabinet.
In a post recently shared to her Instagram page, the Basic Instinct star showed off her dark wood sideboard, which is adorned with decorative objects, books, and ephemera. We love this twist on the typical, closed-storage credenza, which favors displaying rather than hiding items away, all while looking chic and decorative rather than messy.

Technically a TV stand, this sleek, wood sideboard is low-profile and ideal for displaying decorative objects like Sharon.
Jaipur is a vibrant city bursting with energy, color, and grandeur, and nothing captures this quite like this book. Each of its 304 pages offers a tour of the city, whether you're already in love with its streets or just visiting for the first time from your home.
Bring out the beauty of natural wood with a beautiful blue bowl as a decorative accent, whether on a credenza or not. This high-end lapiz lazuli version is essential for every entryway, and looks great all year round.
One of the aspects I love the most about this sideboard is its low-profile height. A staple in retro-inspired, '70s decor, these sideboards don't dominate a wall space and give plenty of room for hanging pieces, like Sharon's art, to shine.
Additionally, the rich wood finish is super versatile in any space, from a neutral entryway to a color-drenched living room. The natural materials can be accentuated with further accessories, like ceramic objects and books, or can be contrasted with objects made of materials like glass and steel for a more contemporary, experimental look.
Critically, the bench-style of this sideboard also provides storage space underneath. Sharon has placed a patterned runner, as well as a few objects, underneath the credenza, which provides an extra point of visual interest as well as some space for larger objects that might not work on top of the furniture.
It is important to be mindful of taking this approach when decorating, though. Too many items on the sideboard and it turns into a cluttered area. However, if you style it mindfully, dispersing objects and giving them space to breathe, this area of your home can become your new favorite display shelf.
