Some living rooms exude a certain tranquillity at a glance, with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Bahamas space being my favorite example.
If you've ever looked at a room, like the musician's, and found it hard to describe exactly what makes it feel so peaceful, the answer is feng shui – an invisible force that's made up of tangible furniture and color choices. You're left with a particular feeling, that's a direct response to the way a room is arranged – and Tim and Faith's design is the ultimate blueprint.
The art of living room feng shui begins with sofa placement, which the couple have mastered in bringing their sofas to the centre of their room, with one sofa facing the entrance. The energy continues through their pops of blue, which experts say is one of the most powerful colors for promoting peace in a living room.

'The position of your sofa is paramount to the Feng Shui of your living room. Ideally, it should face the entrance of the room, while an armchair should be placed diagonally, opposite the doorway with a solid wall close behind,' comments Feng Shui expert Diane Shilito for Barratt London.
Additionally, as mentioned, decorating with blue, like Tim and Faith, is one of the most powerful ways to enhance tranquility in your space.
'Studies show that blue can help lower blood pressure, making it a wonderful colour for spaces designed for comfort and peace,' Diane says.
To make it easier to follow their example, I've listed some of my favorite Tim and Faith-inspired accessories to bring the same energy to your home.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Coastal Living Room Edit
Infuse your space with calm elegance through soft blue gradient pillow covers, just like Faith and Tim's. Made from ultra-luxurious fabric, their subtle shades of blue create a serene, sophisticated accessory for any cream or white sofa.
Handcrafted in India, this pillow marries contemporary design with enduring charm. Its artisanal texture and thoughtful detailing bring warmth, character, and a subtle global elegance, making it a versatile accent for everything from rustic and bohemian interiors to classic or modern spaces.
Elevate your outdoors with our durable, stylish rug, thoughtfully crafted to combine comfort and serenity. Woven from premium materials in a versatile neutral palette, it's perfect for lively gatherings or quiet, contemplative moments alike.
Combining plush luxury with modern design, I love how this pillow's stripes create a subtle focal point, while easy spot-cleaning ensures it stays effortlessly chic. If you're looking for an instant-blue addition, this is your perfect starting point.
Inspired by the piece on Tim and Faith’s coffee table, this tray balances form and function with ease. Its generous surface, side cut-out handles, and raised edges keep items secure while adding a refined, effortless touch to any living room.
If you love Faith's timeless coastal charm, this beautifully crafted jug brings warmth and refinement to your home, offering an effortless way to add everyday style in a perfectly balanced color palette.
Beyond the living room sofa placement and color palette, Diane explains that Tim and Faith's floral accessories and indoor/outdoor design are similarly beneficial for feng shui.
'Introducing indoor plants and flowers is a good idea. Different flowers have different meanings, so placing a mixed bouquet of flowers in the room can support the energy for manifesting intentions,' she says. 'Alongside this, when it comes to lighting, natural light is invaluable to maintain a positive energy flow, so open windows regularly and keep them clean and unobstructed.'
Lastly, if you want to take their teachings a step further, Diane recommends introducing a mirror opposite your doorway.
'A mirror positioned to reflect the doorway gives sufficient visibility of who is entering the room, which provides a sense of security and enhances relaxation. A mirror can also be positioned to reflect a beautiful view, such as the outside landscape or a piece of artwork, she says.
With a little feng shui magic – sofas in the right spot, soothing colors, and a touch of nature – any living room can capture the effortless peace of Tim and Faith’s Bahamas retreat.
