A timeless living room is not so much about aesthetics, but blending timeless materials for a layered and dynamic appearance. Victoria Beckham's space follows this approach to a tee – and we are obsessed.

The Spice Girl and designer recently shared a clip of her living area, and the rule of three is on full display with her dark green velvet sofa, white, marble fireplace, and rattan storage basket sitting in the corner.

According to design experts, the materials that Victoria has used are specifically fantastic for their natural properties and versatility; first and foremost among them, rattan.

'At French Bedroom, we love rattan, as a natural fibre, its organic gradient of browns and yellows seamlessly blends with most decor palettes, making it a favourite amongst interior designers, and sitting perfectly with the emerging trend for browns and natural textures,' Georgia Metcalfe, founder and creative director at French Bedroom explains. 'Rattan is one of those rare natural materials you can feel really good about.'

Additionally, mixing and matching natural materials with textured fabrics, like velvet, further enhances our senses in a space.

'Layering materials is all about balance; you might pair a stone fireplace surround with oak flooring, then introduce smaller gestures, like rattan accent chairs or a clay lamp base, to weave in texture,' says Magdalena Gierasinska, head of product and displays at Barker & Stonehouse. 'These organic elements don’t just add visual interest, they invite touch, reminding us that the best interiors are as much about feeling as they are about form.'

Recreate the look with this velvet sofa from Wayfair, , a discounted rattan basket from Martha Stewart's QVC collection, and a marble candle holder from CB2 for good measure.
