Winston Churchill's London properties are well documented, from his childhood home on St. James' Place to his final residency at 10 Downing Street. Now, a storied home is hitting the market for the first time in 10 years, and it just so happens to be his first bachelor pad.

Listed for $5 million, 105 Mount Street was the former British Prime Minister's home from 1900 until 1905. At 1,087 square feet, the two-bedroom Mayfair apartment is located above the Sautter cigar shop, in a terracotta mansion block designed in 1888 by architect Sir Ernest George. The interiors, meanwhile are an example of how luxury design can always benefit from mixed textures.

'The former Mayfair pied-à-terre of Sir Winston Churchill is a charming and beautifully presented lateral apartment located in central Mayfair on Mount Street,' says Hugo Miller, sales & residential development associate at Clifton Property Partners.

'Mount Street and its surrounding streets and gardens make up the most exclusive urban village in London where international luxury brands sit alongside heritage craftspeople and Michelin star dining. The fashion boutiques of Bond Street are just a short walk away across Berkeley Square and the green expanses of Hyde Park and Green Park are also within close walking distance.' Let's take a closer look, shall we?

The Early Renaissance-style exterior is formidable, while Churchill's apartment has nine double height windows overlooking Mount Street, with views of Mayfair’s prestigious Connaught Hotel.

The master bedroom is fit for royalty, with a pink, silk headboard and sheets, a crystal chandelier, and a metallic, pink ottoman at the foot of the bed. The diamond detailing on the wardrobe mirror is evocative of Art Deco design, while the plush rug adds some further texture to the space.

A secondary bedroom, meanwhile, retains some of the same luxe elements as the master bedroom (especially its statement chandelier), though the all-white room has a bit more of a neutral feel than its pink contemporary.
