Zooey Deschanel stores her guitars in the chicest way – and now I’m eyeing my blank walls differently
Zooey's unorthodox guitar storage provides a unique focal point while giving me some new ideas on decorating with musical objects

For some of us, music is an inherent part of our home decor, whether it's through a grand piano in the living room or a framed vinyl record hanging on the wall.
Zooey Deschanel has opted to incorporate some of her guitars onto the wall as hanging decor, and as someone who has typically stored their guitar in a concealed case, this has given me some interesting wall decoration ideas.
While we often see musical instruments in music rooms and in traditional/functional placements (i.e. the aforementioned piano), placing items like guitars on the wall hits the sweet spot of providing a room with a unique focal point, as well as keeping these items accessible.

These wall-mounted hooks for guitars provide sturdy support as well as a rustic feel with their wood bases.
A vinyl record player is a must-have if you wish to replicate the '70s aesthetic. Throw on some Fleetwood Mac or David Bowie for good measure.
Nothing is cooler than spinning vinyl on the record player. Store your records in style with this perfectly sized, specialty wooden stand. It has a plug in the back, allowing you to keep the records rolling with ease.
One of the things I love about this decorating tactic is that even the smallest of details can be decor; that is, the wall hooks themselves. While Zooey has opted for sleek, black hooks, you could certainly incorporate some wood-based hooks if you're working with a more rustic or country-inspired space. You can also play around with colors to coordinate with your space (and your instruments).
I also love the idea of making music-related equipment and accessories a primary feature of a room. I've seen turntables being placed in the most unexpected of rooms (Melissa McCarthy's kitchen comes to mind), so experimenting with your record player/records is another way to accentuate these items.
With records and record players, I recommend setting them up in a communal area of the home, such as the living room or kitchen, as these are the spaces you'll most likely use them in.
When it comes to other functional ways to display instruments, try using your piano as a makeshift mantel for photographs or display objects. Alternatively, invest in aesthetically pleasing record crates to store both records and other objects you would place in a bookshelf.

More than anything, Zooey's guitars are a reminder that we can get creative with musical instruments and accessories in the home, beyond their functional capacities.
