Somehow, Two Years Later, Zooey Deschanel’s Robin’s Egg Blue Entryway Feels Even Chicer Than It Did in 2024

Evoking Art Deco aesthetics, Zooey's light blue-painted entryway is flecked by metallic accents for a vibrant yet luxe look

Some colors are worth returning to, and this perhaps stands truest for robin's egg blue. The soft, springtime-adjacent shade is powdery yet powerful, adding just the right amount of vibrancy to any space.

This sentiment came to mind when I stumbled upon a photo of Zooey Deschanel's duck-egg blue entryway, which has somewhat of an Art Deco feel in conjunction with its metallic accents. I first saw her post about her entryway back in 2024, but another recent post from her reinforces its power even further.

There is a playful sensibility to this lighter hue, yet it remains refined thanks to its underlying cool tones. It's the reason why, two years later, it's reshaped how I decorate with blue – and it will continue to do so for many more seasons to come, I'm sure.

Shop the Look

According to design experts, Art Deco favors a mix of soft pastels complemented by luxe metallics, seen on full display with Zooey's shelving unit.

'The Art Deco trend was popularised in the 1920s and 1930s, combining timeless designs like geometric prints and bold lines for a luxury style,' says Ruggable brand manager Claudia Kampmann.

'It’s marked by clean and simplistic silhouettes, accented by decadent, angular textures and prints.'

She continues, 'To achieve an updated Art Deco style, opt for a soft, pastel color palette, inspired by shimmering jewellery. Think robin’s egg blue and fresh creams as your main color theme, whilst accenting with metallic golds to add the luxury touch that defines the art deco trend. This will ensure your application is a softer, more elegant expression of Art Deco.'

To recreate the look, we love this baby blue swivel chair from Wayfair, while these velvet pillows would add a luxurious touch to any entryway lounge seat.

What Zooey’s entryway reminds me is that good design lingers. Robin’s egg blue may feel light and playful at first glance, but its staying power lies in its versatility and elegance. It’s a color that evolves with you, settling comfortably into spaces that value personality as much as polish.
