H&M Home’s Mountain-Cabin-Inspired Holiday Collection Might Be the Secret to a Cozy, Minimalist Christmas
They're leaving the cold outside. This high-design holiday is all candlelight, quilted comforts, and the après-pleasure of coming in from the snow
Minimalist Christmas decor sounds chic until December 25 rolls around and you’re left with a threadbare beige throw and a few ornaments fashioned from wooden sticks. Where's the warmth? If any brand understands that minimalism, at its best, is more nuanced (and considerably cozier), it’s Scandi staple H&M Home.
Evoking the exhale of arriving at a mountain cabin with family and friends, its Holiday 2026 collection looks both backward and forward: back to the familiarity of tried-and-true rituals, with the occasional space-age chrome candelabra making room for new ones. ‘Modern holiday traditions are all about creating moments that feel personal and meaningful. For this season, we wanted to capture the emotion of a winter escape. The warmth after coming in from the cold, the glow of candlelight, the comfort of soft textiles and the joy of gathering with the people you love,’ says Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg, Head of Design & Creative at H&M Home.
Faux fur, mini-check patterns, quilted fabrics, and no shortage of snowy, ski-slope motifs lend the ornaments, cushion covers, and bedding an air of après ease. Neutrals obviously dominate, though the iconic holiday reds and greens add the quintessential fa-la-la expressions throughout.
Scaled-down flannel-check bedding and a coordinating fluffy throw keep the cozy, however spartan you fall on the seasonal spectrum.
The ritual of a slow Christmas morning gets an extra special moment, with elegant breakfast trays for freshly baked bread and designated cup-and-saucer sets for cappuccinos. Dressing the evening feast that follows, delicate, crawling-vine-embroidered table linens underpin sage stoneware plates, while dancing glints from golden star-shaped candles challenge you not to turn on the big light again until 2027. Since it's no season to be stuffy, a sense of holiday humor, from smartly-dressed dachshund bathmats to surreal holiday treats, set the scene.
Everyone wants a minimalist Christmas, but no one wants a cold one. H&M Home’s mountain escape might have just cracked the ultimate oxymoron.
