IKEA Has Just Released the Chicest Hotel-Style Lighting in Collaboration with Acclaimed Designer Ilse Crawford – And It's Hard to Believe They're Under $50

IKEA's HALGATT lamps have just launched, and it's clear they've been designed with longevity and luxury in mind

From furniture designer to founder of one of the world's most influential design studios, Ilse Crawford has long been one of the industry's most respected names. With projects ranging from luxury hotels to iconic members' clubs – including the interiors of Soho House New York – her work has become synonymous with warm, human-centered design that never goes out of style.

So, when Crawford collaborates with IKEA, the design world pays attention. Her first collection, SINNERLIG, gave us cork stools and woven rattan lighting that have remained cult favorites for more than a decade. Now, she's back with a brand-new collaboration, and it might just be her most exciting IKEA collection yet.

HALGATT, Ilse Crawford's new collection of table lamps for IKEA, is exactly what you'd expect from the celebrated designer: timeless, understated, and made to live with for years rather than seasons. From a sleek cylindrical lamp in rich chocolate brown to an angular cream ceramic design, each piece has the quiet sophistication of lighting you'd expect to find in one of Crawford's beautifully designed hotels or hospitality projects.

The difference? These designer-looking lamps all cost less than $50 and are available at IKEA, making them one of the most accessible ways to bring Ilse Crawford's signature aesthetic into your home.

'When I design lamps, I want them to bring warmth and life to a room,' Ilse says. 'The challenge is to capture a classic's qualities – the right proportions, choice of materials and shade, and a timelessness that makes the lamp always feel relevant. My inspiration for HALGATT comes from how we live our lives. They have a versatility that supports the decor rather than dominating it – and are just as suitable in the living room as in a dining room, a bedroom or a work area.'

Each feels tactile to touch, with a woven linen shade and a smooth glazed ceramic base, featuring intentional imperfections designed to feel luxurious yet lived-in. Neutral yet still interesting, both styles feel unique in design. With a round base and shade, the brown ceramic lamp is perfect for spaces in need of a little richness or drama. Alternatively, the white ceramic lamp is perfect for tighter spots or schemes with a more pared-back palette.

Chiara Ripalti, Lighting Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden, says, 'We wanted to offer two expressions of the same idea, with classic materials and earthy tones. One took a more distinctive shape, balanced with a tone-on-tone palette. The other a more traditional cylinder, given depth through its rich, dark glaze. Both unmistakably carry the signature of Ilse, at a price that puts it within reach.'

And with a brass dimmer fitted on both, that makes tailoring and layering your lighting more than achievable, it's hard not to love the HALGATT lamps. They feel elevated, practical, and timeless, and unbelievably retail for less than fifty dollars.

'In my view, good interiors are well-lived-in spaces because they reflect and support the people who live there,' says Ilse. 'But without them being lit, the lamps will continue to be equally aesthetically appealing because they are designed so beautifully.'
