From creating more space for planting beautiful blooms and cutting flowers to dedicated plots for growing vegetables and fruit, garden beds offer many possibilities.

Raised bed planters are a beautiful garden idea for perennial plants, fruit, and vegetables to settle in and mature, and investing in one shouldn't cost a small fortune. So while shopping for gardening tools and accessories, I noticed a distinctive raised bed planter from the most unlikely source – ALDI.

A visit to ALDI can be surprisingly rewarding. Whether you want a stylish container garden on a patio or fancy treating yourself to brand-new outdoor furniture, you can usually find everything you'll need in the famous 'ALDI Finds' aisle in stores across the US or online.

The new Belavi Mini Light Weight Raised Planter is under $15, and it’ll fit in any corner of your small backyard, balcony garden, or terrace. The lightweight design is available in two statement colors: a classic green for the traditional garden, and a pastel pink for a more modern backyard.

Investing in a raised planter is certainly worth it – the benefits are endless. If you only have a small patch for edible crops, a raised bed system will allow for more intensive cropping, letting you create a small vegetable garden even in a compact space.

Raised beds are extremely versatile, and will accommodate a wide range of flowers, fruit, and vegetable varieties. Some people use them to grow decorative flowers for indoor arrangements. Raised beds are also good for growing alpines, which like free-draining soil and a dry garden. However, most gardeners tend to stick to growing fragrant herbs and cultivating crops.

Raised bed planters are also ideal for root vegetables such as carrots and parsnips as they are relatively free of stones that can cause split or twisted roots. Most vegetables will grow well, (onions will love the free-draining soil), and so will soft fruit such as strawberries and currants.

Shop the look

ALDI's raised garden planters usually sell out within a week, so we expect this one will likely disappear quickly, too.

Of course, if you don't live near an ALDI, Amazon's selection of raised bed planters is equally good, and they come highly rated. Below, I've listed some of my other favorite planters for style-conscious gardeners.
