Caraway’s New Plastic-Free Coffee Maker Is Designed for a Truly Non-Toxic Brew – It Could Change the Way You Make Coffee
The stainless steel interior has cut plastic from the brew path
When shopping for a truly plastic-free coffee maker, you’ve traditionally had to turn to manual brewing methods. After all, it’s considerably easier to make a French press or AeroPress without plastic tubing and components.
Now, however, you do not have to settle. Caraway is proving that it can be done, with their first Drip Coffee Maker, designed with stainless steel components that eliminate all plastic from the brew path.
It’s one of the most exciting additions I’ve seen to the world of non-toxic coffee makers, and, in my opinion, one of the prettiest, too.
The 10-cup brewer uses Caraway’s proprietary Clean Brew System, featuring a stainless steel and glass brew path where zero plastic touches the water.
Usually, a 'plastic-free' coffee maker means it is free from BPA plastic. While this is a start, any plastic that comes into contact with hot water can leach microplastics into your drink.
To get around this, the new 10-cup Caraway Coffee Maker (also available at Crate & Barrel), uses a proprietary Clean Brew System made from stainless steel and glass so zero plastic touches the water. Pair that with a glass water reservoir and carafe, a stainless steel brew basket and showerhead, and a reusable filter, and it is one of the smartest designs for making a kitchen less toxic that I have seen in years.
Launching in four sumptuous colors (Cream, Stone, Midnight, and Clay), the coffee maker is designed to help turn kitchenware into decor, sitting pretty on your counter for easy grab-and-go brews. With a 90-minute warming plate to keep your carafe warm, you really can grab-and-go, too.
You do not need to fret about cleaning a coffee maker, either. Besides the precise temperature control, automatic bloom, and optimal saturation, the machine has a built-in cleaning function, plus dishwasher-safe parts to end complicated setting adjustments and save hours on scrubbing. Better still, it is all controlled from just one dial, eliminating complicated dials and menu screens for a straightforward, 'clean' brew.
