Step inside Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall’s former Hamptons home
The coastal neighborhood has long been the place of refuge for the best and brightest of New York society
Kim Cattrall’s Hamptons house has been a haven for the actress since she bought the property in 1998. The same year that she debuted as the character Samantha in the hit sitcom Sex and the City. Unsurprisingly, the home is a trove of luxe coastal decor ideas that subtly celebrate its fashionable postcode.
‘I always wanted a quiet beachfront home outside the glam,’ Kim Cattrall told The New York Times. ‘A home that would be restorative and simple to maintain, where I could have privacy, relax and decompress. My home has been my sanctuary.’
In 2020, the actress finally decided to part with the four-acre property, but we can still tour the home that acted as her sanctuary during her career. Situated in the East Hamptons, this property is rustic and charming, the perfect beach retreat.

Located in Gardiner’s Bay, the home offers unobstructed views across the water, all the way to Gardiners Island. The home includes two bedrooms and a large studio. However, there are plenty of quirks in this cozy dwelling.
The heart of the home is the L-shaped living room fitted with a motorized movie screen and a projector to transform it into a screening room. Kim Cattrall has contrasted the natural wood finish of the home with striking furniture designs and colorful works of art.
One of our favorite pieces in her collection is the pop-art style portrait of the owner herself located in the roomy studio. The terracotta colors, with flashes of blue work beautifully with the neutral color scheme.
While the home includes a traditional bedroom on the ground floor, this room is currently being used as a study. It is the bedroom loft that Kim Cattrall prefers to use when she’s in her Hampton’s home.

The bedroom, located above the living room can be reached by a ladder. While this room might look rustic, it is anything but. The bedroom is fitted out with a walk-in wardrobe and a double bed.
It is no wonder that this bedroom is a favorite of the famous owner. Two skylights provide views of the stars at night. While the floor-to-ceiling windows to the left the room offers views out across the water during the day.
The kitchen has been kept modern and minimalist, with wooden front cabinets and marble countertops.
An outdoor mahogany deck is situated between the house and studio. There is space for lounging and entertaining. But when night starts to set in, that is the perfect time to migrate to the paved firepit nestled between the beach rushes.
Where does Kim Cattrall live?
Kim Cattrall originally split her time between her New York apartment and her East Hampton home. However, in 2014, the actress and author found a new retreat on Vancouver Island where she grew up.
She bought a waterfront home on the East Coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, where she now lives with her partner Russell Thomas.
