Rihanna purchased Matthew Perry’s penthouse in an iconic LA building – and the living room is incredible
The singer already owned a smaller unit in the Robert A. M. Stern-designed skyscraper – take a look around her new home
Rihanna has purchased Matthew Perry's former 'Mansion in the Sky' in The Century building for $21 million.
The singer, who already owned an apartment in the Robert A. M. Stern-designed building, has upgraded to a larger penthouse unit – gaining one more bedroom, three more bathrooms, and almost 6,000 additional square feet than her prior home. This extra room will likely come in handy for Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky, who are expecting their second child.
As one of the world's best homes, it is easy to understand the celebrity appeal behind this condo – and The Century building as a whole. Home owners include Candy Spelling, the widow of filmmaker Aaron Spelling, Paula Abdul, and Elizabeth Berkley. Actor Denzel Washington and, of course, Friends star Matthew Perry.
Matthew purchased the entire 40th floor in 2017 before enlisting architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Paganoe to upgrade the home. He sold the apartment to entrepreneur Nick Molnar in 2021 for $23 million – who later listed the condo in late 2022 for $28 million.
Both the Perry and Molnar sales are two of the most expensive condo transactions in Los Angeles residential sales history.
Designer LM Paganoe is known for a modernist–chateau vintage palette that allows the homeowner to exhibit possessions they hold dear. And while this is evident throughout the entire home –no space is quite so luxe as the living room.
Boasting a contemporary gray-and-white color scheme, two fireplaces, and panoramic views over Los Angeles, this space epitomizes open-plan living in style.

The living space flows into a monochromatic kitchen – complete with black breakfast bar stools that create a juxtaposition against the white marble countertop and cabinetry.
Beyond the breakfast bar, there is a separate dining room with glass walls that accentuate the views – and four terraces are perfect for entertaining and dining.
Alongside the four bedrooms (all of which boast views of the city), the condo has eight bathrooms, a game room, and a private home theater.
The wider building has four acres of lush private gardens, a 75-foot-long swimming pool, a yoga studio, and a wine-storage facility – that will come in handy when holding a party on the terrace, naturally.
Further to her new condo, Rihanna's property portfolio spans
has owned or rented at least a dozen homes, including two Beverly Hills homes that she is currently renting out. In addition to The Century condo, Perry has owned luxury homes in Pacific Palisades and a 5,500-square-foot Malibu Beach home he sold in 2021 for $13.1 million.
