IKEA’s 10th PS Collection Is Finally Here – And It’s Packed with Playful Pieces That Will Bring Joy to Your Home
The inflatable chair was just the beginning – this limited-edition collection features foldable tables, vases with ears, and so many more playful picks
Since its first launch in the 1990s, IKEA's PS Collections have challenged the way we think about design. They've always been supplementary to the brand's standard range (hence the 'PS' or, 'post scriptum' title), and since the beginning, each collection has been intended to make good furniture accessible for all people, reflecting IKEA's core principle of democratic design.
Nearly 30 years and nine collections later, IKEA has continued to do just that, and its PS products have become cult favorites in the design scene for their simple yet innovative style. Now, as the 10th iteration of the PS Collection launches, IKEA continues to champion the democratization of high-end design. Only this time, playful functionality is at the forefront of its creations. The collection launches in-store today and is available to shop online from May 22nd.
Maria O'Brian, the Creative Leader of IKEA's PS 2026 Collection, says the series 'combines functionality with unexpected details, interactive elements, and a sense of discovery, turning ordinary objects into something joyful. 'The goal is to create objects that not only serve a purpose but also bring curiosity and something unexpected into the everyday.'
Designer Mikael Axelsson's blow-up chair took the design world by storm after it was first displayed at Milan Design Week. Its design is familiar yet fresh – reminiscent of inflatable plastic furniture from the 90s with a contemporary, design-led twist.
You might remember a few weeks ago when IKEA teased this iteration of its PS Collection at Milan Design Week with a bending lamp, a rocking bench, and a surprisingly chic inflatable chair. These pieces embody the notion of playful functionality – and the rest of the collection does, too.
IKEA enlisted the talents of twelve designers to bring PS 2026 to life – each asked to reinterpret Scandinavian design aesthetics through their eyes while blending innovation, practicality, and playfulness. From there, the imaginative, 44-piece collection was born – consisting of chairs, rugs, vases, lamps, and so many more pieces that are bound to become conversation starters within your home.
'The pieces you see in the collection invite people to touch, explore, and engage with them, revealing functions, surprises, or character beyond what first appears,' Maria muses. Like a reminder to embrace curiosity and the childlike sense of wonder that exists within all of us, these pieces are proof that good design doesn't have to be so serious all the time.
This modern blue chair encourages you to sit any way you please. Pair it with the wooden table with a clever pull-out drawer and the portable lamp to create an artful seating area in your home.
Aside from the inflatable green chair that became an instant fan-favorite, there's so much more to love from IKEA's 10th PS Collection. The woven wood cabinet, for instance, is a definite standout with its unique formation, its visual appeal, and its texturally rich style. As is the metal mirror with its abstract metal frame – a practical feature and an art piece. Even smaller decorations like the cheeky vases with ear-shaped handles and the portable lamps with colorful bases demonstrate the expressive nature of this collection.
Design expertise in your inbox – from inspiring decorating ideas and beautiful celebrity homes to practical gardening advice and shopping round-ups.
These pieces have been made to help your home function more efficiently, but with their playful design elements, they'll turn it into a place that's filled with excitement around every corner.
The masterful weave of this wooden cabinet was informed by designer Friso Wiersma time as a boatbuilder. It's a stunning, high-end like cabinet that can act as a stylish storage idea for your living room.
IKEA's PS 2026 Collection couldn't come at a better time, especially as design trends are taking a turn away from rigidity to embrace personality and character in interior spaces. Though simple in form, each piece is built to bring joy into your home in one way or another – whether that be through the fun rocking feature on the rocking bench or the unique briefcase-style fold of the folding side table.
But the best part? It's all accessible. This collection's prices range from $4.99 to $499, with most products falling below $100 – further demonstrating IKEA's commitment to making high-end, well-made Scandinavian furniture and decor available for all.
Since PS 2026 is a limited edition collection, it won't be around forever. Shop it in stores now, or mark your calendars for its online drop on May 28th.
