In years gone by, investing in one of the best sun loungers was only deemed a worthwhile purchase when accompanied by a swimming pool. However, the last few summers have seen many affordable brands selling incredibly chic options that fit well in just about any backyard, even if it is sans pool.

The epitome of understated elegance, Lidl's latest launch, the Livarno Home Aluminum Lounge Chair, is one such purchase. The cost-effective garden seating is so popular the brand has limited it to just two per person.

A sun lounger in the backyard is an instant way to up the style stakes and transport your garden, balcony or patio to a level worthy of the Hamptons.

A comfortable sun lounger is an absolute must. Nothing beats reclining with a good book in the garden on a sunny weekend. The benefit of a lounger over a simple garden chair, is the ability to recline. It was one of my first purchases when I moved into a new home – being able to relax in the sunshine – in my own private oasis, is a privilege and a mood-booster.

If you do have the space in you home, a sun lounger (or two) is worth the investment and many styles, such as this one, can be neatly folded down and tucked away when you're not using them.

However, if you can't get to an Lidl or don't live in the delivery catchment, you can shop similar lounge chairs at some of our other favorite stores.
