The hard water in my area has always been a battle during bathroom cleaning, until I placed a squeegee in my shower to wipe down the glass and tiles.

The simple squeegee I got from Amazon snaps right onto the tiles, and everyone in my household uses it to remove any droplets from top to bottom after showering. The benefits have been huge, reducing mineral deposits and humidity by 90%, as well as cutting bathroom humidity dwell time to just 10 minutes.

It also means I no longer have to remove limescale from the shower glass as often, and when I do, it's a breeze.

Why a squeegee is a game changer for cleaning windows and glass

Not only do I use a squeegee (available from Target with a hanging clip), for wiping water down and cleaning my shower glass when I use my DIY cleaning spray, but I also use it when freshening up the inside of windows around my home.

There is a good reason professional cleaners use squeegees when they’re doing this task, as it means less effort and force needed through your arm and wrist, and more methodical cleaning that will leave no corner untouched.

As someone who uses adaptive pacing when cleaning to avoid injury and pain flares, any tool that makes my household chores easier is a win for me.

This cleaning method has also made a huge difference to the glass and windows in my home.

Now, my shower glass is always streak-free all the time. Before, when I used to leave the water to dry by evaporation after showering, I’d have to get rid of hard water stains that built up quickly and needed real elbow grease to shift.

Now, two-minutes spent removing shower water from my en suite’s tiles and glass before I step out means no horrid or stubborn mineral build up. A simple spritz with a commercial limescale remover such as Better Life’s bathroom cleaner, or a DIY vinegar and water 50/50 mix is all it takes.

I use a spray to remove mineral deposits once a month now with a microfiber cloth, which I buy in bulk from Amazon. Before, I had to deep clean my shower every weekend to prevent the horrible buildup of limescale.

I’ve also noticed no more pink mold, which is actually a common bathroom bacteria, building up since I started using the squeegee.

This is because the shower does not remain humid for more than 10 minutes, and the majority of the water has been squeegeed away when anyone in my household is finished with showering. This leaves little opportunity for the bacteria to take hold.

What to shop

Steam cleaning your windows is another brilliant way to shift stubborn limescale from glass. There are many uses for a steam cleaner across the home, making it a fabulous investment for easier cleaning.
