When choosing a bedroom color palette, light neutrals are a consistently safe and soothing choice. Creams, whites, and grays are excellent for promoting a calm slumber, making them especially refreshing during the warm summer months. However, because neutrals risk falling on the wrong side of boring, finding ways to elevate them is essential. Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato have found the perfect solution for styling a serene space in 2026.

Actress Lopilato shared a video inside the couple's white bedroom, showcasing how they mix textures to keep the look dynamic. Their setup features a gray bed styled with a white patterned botanical quilt – ideal for a crisp summer feel – set against a padded leather-covered wall behind the bedhead. The corner of the room incorporates a gray rug (like this one from Wayfair), a woven basket, and a statement chandelier (also like this one from Wayfair), all bringing experimental textures to the crisp white space.

Moving into the walk in closet area, the design continues with vertical, invisible-style cabinets boasting glossy, off-white fronts. While keeping neutral bedrooms interesting can be tricky, the couple's injection of varied textures – from the leather wall to the rug and glossy cabinets – ensures they enjoy the benefits of a bright white room without it ever feeling too vanilla.

Interior designers swear by this exact technique. Claire Garner, founder of Claire Garner Interiors, explains why this approach is so effective:

'Neutral bedrooms work so well from a design perspective because they create a calm, timeless, and versatile backdrop that enhances relaxation. Soft, muted shades like beige, cream, grey, taupe, and soft whites have a natural, calming effect on the mind and provide a great blank canvas for introducing textures, patterns, and accents without clashing,' Garner notes. 'Neutral colored tones will also reflect the light well, helping to make a bedroom feel airy and spacious, whatever its size.'

Reflecting that summer sunshine is a great way to make a sleep space feel open and breezy. To emulate Bublé and Lopilato's style, Garner recommends starting with neutral-colored walls to create a soothing base. From there, you can layer tactile elements that suit the season.

'You can then play with textures to add depth to your scheme, such as pairing a chunky knit throw with smooth cotton pillows or layering a faux fur rug on top of a soft wool carpet. Textured headboards, woven baskets, or rattan furniture can also enhance the room’s tactile quality.'

In addition to texture, the couple uses subtle patterns to break up the monochromatic look, as seen in their botanical quilt. For a mid-2026 summer refresh, you can take this inspiration even further by introducing light wallpaper or patterned cushions.

'While neutral tones are often associated with solids, don’t be afraid to incorporate subtle patterns to break up the monotony. Geometric, floral, or striped patterns in soft shades can be introduced through cushions, bedspreads, or even wallpaper. Ensure the patterns are delicate and understated to maintain a peaceful atmosphere,' Garner advises.

Creating a peaceful retreat doesn't mean you have to sacrifice personality. By layering the right summer-ready textures and subtle prints, you can easily transform a simple neutral bedroom into a sophisticated, calming haven.
