Confession: I really thought I was over the exposed brick trend. While I saw the allure of an unexpected bit of industrial detailing, I felt that I had seen it a little too much over the last several years.

Alexandra Daddario's bedroom just changed my mind, though. The actor shared a snap of her cozy bedroom on her Instagram page, and I was immediately intrigued by how she styled the space around her exposed brick wall.

The industrial aesthetics are juxtaposed by floral wallpaper, soft, white bedding, and a luxe, gold mirror, all of which bring a dynamic visual appeal and softness to the room. It's absolutely a look I can get behind.

Shop the look

One of my favorite things about Alexandra's space is the inclusion of florals next to the brick wall. While she could have gone for a natural look (i.e., a vase of fresh flowers or a houseplant), the addition of a floral wallpaper behind her bed is unexpected, yet complementary when placed next to the tougher wall. It creates so much balance and harmony in the room.

Additionally, the gold mirror adds the perfect amount of glamour to the room. Its subtle frame adds some sheen to the space, without overdoing it. If you wanted to lean in to a more rustic ambiance, a reclaimed wood mirror or hanging picture frame would work wonders.

Finally, the crisp, white bedding is a solid foundation to counter the browns and reds of the brick wall. White sheets are timeless as ever, and opting for a neutral when working in a brick room can really create a clean, minimalist feel that is anything but boring. I would try experimenting with textures, however, to keep the bed aesthetically intriguing. Linen or silk are both fantastic options in a brick-walled room.
