It’s Only January, yet Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Have Quietly Defined What May Be 2026’s Sleekest, Most Luxurious Kitchen Trend

The slab backsplash is nothing new, but Brooklyn and Nicola's twist is the sleekest twist I've seen to date – and designers say their look is right on trend

It’s early in 2026, but one kitchen trend is already impossible to ignore. The best example? Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s white marble kitchen, where a slab backsplash steals all the attention. In all my years covering celebrity homes, I haven’t seen one executed this well.

The slab backsplash is certainly no new phenomenon. I've seen celebrities from Jennifer Aniston to Cameron Diaz experiment with a statement, continuous piece of material in their kitchens over recent years. However, with its built-in shelves, made from the same marble, Brooklyn's example takes this look a step further.

As passionate as I am about the slab kitchen backplash, I am not alone in my feelings. Bekki Griffiths, the Head of Brand at Bushboard, agrees that this feature is increasingly becoming a staple in modern kitchens, both for their aesthetic appeal and practical benefits – and 2026 is the year they will really come into play.

'Solid slab backsplashes offer a sleek, modern look that can transform any kitchen into a contemporary masterpiece. Their seamless appearance provides a clean, uninterrupted surface that not only looks stunning but also adds a touch of sophistication,' she says. This luxurious aesthetic is the main driving force behind its popularity.

'One of the main reasons solid slab backsplashes are trending is their ability to serve as a focal point for kitchen design. Unlike traditional tiled backsplashes, solid slabs create a statement with their bold, unbroken expanse,' Bekki explains. 'Their sleek and modern look can turn a simple kitchen into an artistic centerpiece of any kitchen design.'

Plus, aesthetic values aside, there are practical benefits to following Brooklyn Beckham's example, as kitchen designer Tom Howley explains.

Using a single slab with minimal joints is far easier to maintain than traditional tiled backsplashes and, when properly cared for, requires significantly less ongoing upkeep,' he says.

'Grout, by contrast, can quickly collect dirt and begin to look tired. In busy households, practicality is paramount, and slabs with subtle veining or pattern can help disguise the marks of everyday use. Mirrored backsplashes remain a popular alternative, though it’s worth noting that they tend to reveal every splash and spill.'

We can't all have a backsplash as stunning in scale as Brooklyn's, but this look is truly replicable in even the smallest of kitchens, and now is the perfect time to follow suit.
