Ellen Pompeo's living room champions the glamorous trend experts predict will reign supreme in 2024
While a maximalist approach to design isn't for everyone, we love the eclectic look of Ellen Pompeo's living room
The Malibu home of actress Ellen Pompeo is a vibrant and maximalist space, that certainly doesn't shy away from making a loud statement.
The Grey's Anatomy star enlisted the help of esteemed interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard to create the living space. Bullard, who has designed the homes of numerous A-list celebrities – from Kylie Jenner to Winnie Harlow – is widely known for his eclectic take on interiors, and so this appears to be a very fitting design project.
We're honing in on the living room, which celebrates decorating with maximalism, following the below image which was shared by the designer.

Arguably the most striking element of the living room is the stone-clad walls, which create an instantly bold and statement look. Monochrome colors and playful lines are embodied through decorating with marble, creating a striking backdrop in the living room.
In the post's caption, Bullard writes that the 'black Agatha stone wall... was used to create bookshelves as well as a fireplace.' He goes on to write: 'I think it’s my favorite feature in the house and certainly ups the glamour quota.'
Undoubtedly a unique design style, we speak to the interior experts to delve deeper. Designer Yvonne Landivar weighs in: 'The use of natural stone in a home invites the feeling of having nature indoors. It’s a timeless material that accentuates classic as well as contemporary designs, depending on the colors and patterns the stone comes in.'
Commenting on the use of stone in Pompeo's living room, Landivar observes: 'It’s a very elegant proposition for a home with a mid-century flare and a touch of Hollywood’s golden era.'

Also featured in the room is a bar cart, which brings a mid-century modern feel to the room. The rest of the furniture follows a low-profile form with mid-century-inspired shapes, such as the set of armchairs that are covered in white upholstery.
By contrast, the sculptural coffee table champions a modernist take on design and compliments the striking stone wall.
