I thought I'd seen every twist on the spa bathroom trend until I saw LeBron James' marble space – it's livable but luxurious

A marble bathroom is a timeless design choice for a reason; this cool and sophisticated stone imbues any space with an air of elegance, making it perfect for elevating even the smallest of rooms.

LeBron James' bathroom, however, takes this luxury look a notch further with its marble, spa-like shower, which features a sleek bench and a monochromatic pattern. But that's not the only twist we've seen on this bathroom trend.

To make things even more unique, LeBron and his wife, Savannah, have incorporated (what appears to be) a mini living space alongside their shower, complete with a large area rug and a pink sofa for good measure. It's unlike any shower room we've ever seen, but despite its uniqueness, these contrasting features seem to work together seamlessly.

Savannah shared a snap of the living space and shower on her Instagram page, and, alongside the living room, the shower space is noteworthy in its own right. We love how the white marble is accented by metallic fixtures, which experts agree is a great design move.

According to experts, certain metallic accents pair well with specific colors and stones, so it is important to select fixtures based on your existing bathroom scheme.

'Aged finishes pair beautifully with warm neutrals like cream and taupe for a soft, classic feel, or deep greens and navy for a striking contrast,' says Mike Whitfield, luxury interiors expert at LUSSO. 'Aged bronze, for example, pairs beautifully with heritage colours like deep greens, navy and burgundy, and blends seamlessly with earthy tones.'

Meanwhile, cool, silver finishes make a perfect match for a white marble shower, like LeBron and Savannah's.

'Brushed stainless, with its subtle sheen, complements cool neutrals such as soft grey and taupe, while enhancing the elegance of marble and stone surfaces,' Mike explains.

Alternatively, Mike says that gold can also pair beautifully with marble, especially for those who want to create that luxe, spa look.

'For those looking to elevate the elegance and drama of materials such as marble, brushed gold accents are the perfect choice to add warmth and sophistication,' he says. 'This is particularly true against white or dark veined marble.'

The additional detail of a bench also enhances a shower's spa qualities, encouraging us to take our time in this meditative space.

'A seat in a shower isn’t only great for future-proofing and multigenerational households, it totally gives off that spa-like style,' explains Grazzie Wilson, head of creative at Ca’ Pietra. 'Imagine taking a moment to just sit and relax while bathing and while away the stresses of the day.'

It's undeniable: marble is the ultimate luxe material for a shower, and adding accents like a bench or metallic accents makes it feel even more elegant. Try incorporating small marble accents in your space via soap dishes or trays for even more of the beloved stone.
