I wasn’t a fan of black painted cabinets – then I saw Matthew McConaughey's stunning kitchen, and I couldn't look away
I always thought black cabinets were too risky for my kitchen, but Matthew and Camila's refined yet dramatic space completely changed my mind

I'll be the first to confess that I always found black-painted kitchen cabinets beautiful, but I never thought they were right for my kitchen.
Living in a tiny city apartment, I have always adhered to the rule that lighter, brighter colors can make a space feel airier – and, in turn, appear bigger. Then I saw Camila and Matthew McConaughey's dark glossy cabinets, and it changed my perspective entirely.
In their Texas home, Matthew and Camila designed a black kitchen that doesn't feel compact in any way. The secret is in the paint's glossy finish. The tone is sleek and seductive, while still reflecting light in a way I'd always expect from lighter-hued cabinet fronts. It's the best of both worlds – and enough to turn me into a dark kitchen convert for good.

When it comes to Camila and Matthew McConaughey's glossy cabinets, specifically, I am also in good company on Instagram. Many have commented on Camila's post to say they were distracted by the cabinets in question, and honestly, who can blame them? Are you just in love with their style?
