RuPaul is known for his outlandish style on RuPaul's Drag Race, and this sensibility seeps into his interior design subtly. Case in point: we recently spotted the TV show host's orange oven hood, and were intrigued by the color choice.

Decorating with orange is on the rise, with nods to the '70s via burnt tones and Mediterranean-inspired terracotta hues making waves. Ru's take on the trend is bold, with a true, citrus-esque orange contrasting his black-and-white cabinets and marble backsplash.

Chelsea also mentions that lighting is significant when it comes to an orange kitchen.

'Both natural and artificial light can impact how a color looks in a room, so it’s important to test your chosen shades before you start decorating,' she tells us.

'Warm-toned shades work well in north-facing rooms that tend to be short on natural light, as they help to minimise the appearance of shadows while softening any reflections from artificial light sources. Vibrant, cool-toned hues work well in south-facing spaces but can overpower naturally darker rooms, making the space feel enclosed.'

If you're not quite ready to paint your oven hood orange like Ru, try incorporating some accessories into your kitchen, like this scalloped tray or this embroidered table runner. It's hard to go wrong with smaller (but no less stylish) pieces such as these.
