The subtle color tricks in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ that can transform any room into a soothing coastal retreat
The romantic drama sees lots of blues, greens, teals, and the like covering its walls throughout the three seasons, and we are obsessed

The Summer I Turned Pretty really put coastal decor on the map. From the infamous beach house in the fictional town of Cousins to the beachy patterns that appear on the characters' beds, this Prime series, currently in its third and final season, is one to watch for design inspiration.
One of the key trends we can't stop thinking about is the show's penchant for cool color schemes. Blues and greens are everywhere, from the front door of the beach house, which we are greeted by in season 1, to the dark green entryway.
It's clear that these shades are the perfect accents for the coastal theme – and designers are in agreement.

This shimmery light blue pillow would be a gorgeous complement to an accent chair of the same hue. However, it also looks great on a neutral sofa or crisp white bedding.
If painting the entire room green isn’t part of your plan, why not bring the color in through furnishings and accents? These charming gray-green ceramic pots are perfect for adding a subtle touch of this timeless hue to any space.
Every coffee table needs a gorgeous ceramic vase, and this rustic design is a contemporary way to introduce color and a floral flourish to your home. Pair with fresh eucalyptus leaves to embrace the blue and green color combination we adore.
According to experts, cool tones make a fantastic pick for practically any room in the home thanks to their soothing properties.
'The first step when choosing a color for a particular room is to always think about how you want to feel in that space,' explains designer Matthew Williamson. 'Do you want to feel calm and relaxed? Choose cool tones, from blue to green, and then work with a few additional shades similar to this colour base to dress the room with larger items.'
While the tones in the show vary from dark to pastel, the ones that combine both blue and green (that is, turquoise) make for bold yet elegant design choices.
'Turquoise brings a breath of fresh air to any home, evoking feelings of serenity while also offering the energy of a vibrant hue,' explains designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'Whether used indoors or out, it’s a color that never fails to create a mood of creativity and comfort. Paired with neutrals, warm woods, or even bold contrasts like coral and gold, turquoise can transform a space, making it feel effortlessly stylish and welcoming.'
