There's something quietly powerful about your chosen sofa color, especially in otherwise neutral living rooms, which risk feeling slightly vanilla. Zendaya understands this assignment. Her mossy green sofa is a subtle yet dramatic talking point in her cream living space, proving that moody colors are a risk worth taking in such spaces. I first spotted this statement piece in her Brooklyn apartment over a year ago, yet it remains one of my all-time favorite celebrity couches to this day.
While some sofa color trends come and go, there's something eternally chic about Zendaya's choice, seen on the second slide of the photo carousel below. It's one of the few moody tones that, I believe, really has a staying power.
One year is a long time in the world of ever-changing design, but her choice looks as beautiful as it did the first time I looked around her neutral living room. Plus, I'm almost certain it'll look just as stylish in another year from now.
To get her look, I adore this rich velvet piece from Wayfair. It's dramatic enough to sit alone, but pairing it with an ottoman (like this one, also from Wayfair) is always a good idea. Just as Zendaya has done the same. I've listed some of my favorite picks, inspired by her living room below.

While Zendaya's sofa choice is timeless, design experts agree that 2026 is the most fashionable year to follow her example.
'In 2026, we’re seeing even greater demand for colours associated with the natural world. Blue and green hues are perennially popular, but demand has risen even further this year. Blue and green – whether bold or muted – are in increased demand thanks to the grounding effect they have on a space,' comments interior expert Shelley Cochrane.
'A bold sofa in a cobalt shade can conjure happy memories of seaside holidays, whilst a muted green sofa evokes the tranquility of nature. Both are versatile shades and work with a number of styles and colorways.'

With its therapeutic nature, decorating with green will do more than elevate your space's aesthetic. It will bring a sense of grounding peace to the busiest space in your home, whether you have an urban retreat like Zendaya's or a traditional, broken-plan space. With this green, your sofa will impress for years, or, dare I say, centuries.
