At a glance, I thought Zooey Deschanel's home was an English country property – the grand Cali living room includes heritage features

As a celebrity style news editor, many of the homes I look at are based in California, and thus, have a cool, casual feel to them (think light woods, neutral color palettes, and soft textures).

When I saw Zooey Deschanel's living room, I assumed the actor had purchased property in the British countryside, thanks to its manor-inspired aesthetic. It turns out that the New Girl actor has simply adapted the ever-popular aesthetic in her Cali home – and I am obsessed.

Channeling English country style comes down to a few key elements, which Zooey has nailed in her living space; namely, heritage details, natural materials, and of course, plenty of antique and vintage decor.
