Wall murals are having a major revival, and after years of minimalist white walls dominating interiors, it couldn't come at a better time. More immersive than wallpaper and more accessible than commissioning a hand-painted design, murals add character, depth, and storytelling to a space. Whether you're drawn to romantic landscapes, botanicals, or sweeping woodland scenes, they're one of the easiest ways to create a room that feels layered, timeless, and entirely unique.

The catch is, designers want to see wall murals on all four (or five!) walls. As architect Elizabeth Graziolo of Yellow House Architects and designer Annabelle Moehlmann found when they teamed up to transform Annabelle's Upper East Side apartment, in 2026, we want the walls to do the talking.

Throughout the home, bespoke scenic murals create moments of drama, wrapping the dining room in a woodland landscape and a palm-filled vista that brings elegance to the primary bathroom. Inspired by the project, I've rounded up 20 beautiful wall murals that capture the same collected, artful aesthetic.
