As we firmly enter August, the sun-filled days of summer are gradually drawing to a close, meaning September and all its earthy tones are growing ever closer.

While to some, it may be a little early to think about fall color schemes, Benjamin Moore is ahead of the color trend curve, releasing three lookbooks inspired by the hottest autumnal hues set to dominate in 2026.

'These three looks all reflect the broader shift away from highly decorative, trend-led interiors towards spaces that feel grounded, personal and emotionally restorative,' explains Helen Shaw, Director of Marketing at Benjamin Moore. 'They approach this from different angles, but together they capture the key themes shaping autumn-winter interiors - rather than fleeting microtrends, the focus is now on colours and designs that have lasting appeal and flexibility over time.'

Analogue

First amongst Benjamin Moore's autumn color trends palette is 'Analogue'. Inspired by the quiet charm of a reading nook or home library, the room color idea features two classic heritage shades: black and warm white.

'Enveloping spaces away from life’s hustle and bustle allow for much-needed reconnection – with ourselves, with others and with our passions, whether reading or listening to music,' says Helen. 'The most effective schemes balance personal expression with soothing elements. A book-filled study with joinery painted in inky black produces a cocooning, creative atmosphere, perfect for gentle reboots.'

While black and white is no new color combination for a room, Benjamin Moore's Midnight Dream and Fossil are softer, more liveable alternatives to the striking pairing. Whether you're accentuating an architectural feature like an arched doorway or bookshelf or bringing a little warmth into your office, the analogue room palette is masterfully classic.

Blue Spruce

The blue and red color combination trend might sound bold, but dusty, gray-infused blues paired with vibrant orange-toned reds couldn't be more liveable. 'Blue Spruce', the second look in Benjamin Moore's autumnal trends palette, reinvents the two striking hues into a cocooning pairing for fall.

'Hints of gray can be seen in this elegant, saturated blue paint (Blue Spruce), and introducing a touch of unexpected contrast is a contemporary take on a straightforward color wash concept,' says Helen. 'For autumn, opting for a moody mid-tone contrasted with a warm-based highlight provides a surprise for the eye while maintaining a cossetting feel.'

'Using the contrasting color in a less obvious area, such as the underside of an archway, or the transition space between two rooms, is a creative way to tap into this rich and cozy autumnal look. Picking out an often-overlooked architectural element in a confident red-orange, such as Soft Glow, adds a new dimension to the enveloping effect provided by the elegant, gray-based tones of Blue Spruce.'

Cultivated Nomad

'Fitting for the season of gathering and renewal, autumn-winter schemes reflect a sense of homecoming after a period of exploration,' Helen says. 'Collected pieces, softened geometrics, textural flooring, mellow canework and abstract pattern are all underpinned by a painted canvas of nuanced greens and mineral neutrals, providing a gently unifying framework.'

'Collected Nomad', the last look in the Benjamin Moore autumn palette, combines complex pale blues (like Tranquillity), organic greens, and warm neutrals (Seaspray) for an organic, pared-back feel that feels timeless and still fall-appropriate.

'This is a cohesive take on a four-toned approach, expressed through soft sage-gray walls, complemented by mid-toned neutrals rooted in green, deep mossy grays and the gentlest of sand tones – perfect for evoking a sense of heritage architecture-meets-global sensibility.'
