If switching your bedding with the seasons simply feels like too much effort, solutions that are suitable for year-round use negate the need. This might look like a lightweight yet cozy comforter and breathable bedding, but often doesn't apply to heavier-duty items, like mattress toppers.

That's what I thought, at least, until I spotted the NÄSTABERG Mattress Topper, available at IKEA. As the Sleep Editor here at Homes & Gardens, it's the first of its kind that I've seen, with a warm and cool side for flippable, adjustable comfort as the seasons turn.

For that reason, it's one of the best cooling mattress toppers to invest in with fall fast approaching.

Most mattress toppers focus on boosting comfort or keeping a bed cool. Rarely, though, do these cooling options allow for year-round suitability − unlike the IKEA NÄSTABERG Mattress Topper.

Featuring a clever, double-sided design, one side is cooler, while the other is neutral to warm for keeping you warm while you sleep. Simply flip the topper as temperatures drop between fall and winter, and flip it back come spring and summer next year.

It's effortlessly easy to clean and care for this mattress topper, too, which is ever more important when using one throughout all four seasons. The cover can conveniently be removed, machine washed warm, and air-dried before being replaced on the topper.

As it's crafted with comfortable memory foam, this will also keep you comfortable in any sleep position and work to relieve pressure on your spine and joints while aiding blood circulation.

The mattress topper doesn't have a thick profile, so your usual bed sheets will fit without being too snug and slipping and sliding off.

As Annika describes in their five-star review, the support is 'just right.' 'It's soft but not too soft,' they explain. 'It's firm but not too firm'

Another reviewer, Cheryl, enthuses that it 'turns an average mattress into a divine one,' and adds, 'Loved this! We had a very hard base mattress which was uncomfortable on my hips ( side sleeper); this topper turned it into a firm, but pillow-topped comfort.'

Finally, for Jocelyn, it was 'exactly what was needed' to make a mattress firmer. 'We had purchased a new mattress a few months ago, a medium-firm as we had before,' they share. 'But the one we had previously was discontinued, and the new one was quite different. WAY too soft! Gave it a go with this mattress topper to spare the hassle of returning a King mattress, and so glad we got the topper!

'It added exactly that firmer feel we were after, and the cooling memory foam is perfect. I don’t feel the other sleeper moving around either. Very happy with this addition for our bed. Better sleep ahead!'
