According to Anthropologie, your tree needs a crown (and maybe a tutu) this Christmas – courtesy of its Nutcracker-inspired collab with the New York City Ballet
Anthropologie’s latest holiday collection waltzes 'The Nutcracker' off the stage and into your home with regal ornaments, glittering tableware, and awe-inducing accents

The Nutcracker and the holidays are synonymous. George Balanchine’s iconic ballet – Clara’s dream spun into sugar, snow, and sequins – is for many of us, a holiday ritual. And now, Anthropologie has pirouetted the tradition into your living room, teaming with the world-renowned New York City Ballet on its most whimsical holiday collection yet.
All of the familiar Nutcracker characters you love – Sugar Plum Fairy, Nutcracker Prince, Snow Queen – are recast as Christmas decorating ideas, spanning ornaments, embroidered pillows, and glittering tabletop accents. So expect the same twinkle, tutus, and candy-coated theatrics you love about the on-stage performance, ready to whimsify any corner you have in mind.
‘The Nutcracker has inspired audiences for generations, and through this collaboration, we hope to encourage our customers to explore and delight in the season with the same joy and awe they feel when watching the ballet,’ says Katherine Finder, Chief Merchandising Officer at Anthropologie Home. ‘We wanted each piece to carry a sense of surprise, ornate charm, and make the home more inviting, and every holiday gathering a celebration.'
The candy-coded collection could best be described as regal maximalism – heavy on the sparkle, airy on the scallops, and laced with crystal flourishes that echo the ballet’s choreography. Even the tree topper takes the form of an actual crown, as if your holiday fir were the Snow Queen making her stage debut. If that's the next big Christmas decor trend to watch, consider us in.
And, of course, mingled within the collection, you'll also find an actual nutcracker – which, being hand-carved and hand-painted, is very much a new-to-you heirloom, waiting to slip into your own family festivities.
Tickets for the New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker don’t go live until November, but if you need the magic sooner, these six pieces are already earning our flowers.
Featuring four graceful ballerinas, three snow-dusted firs, and one irresistibly charming globe to hold it all together, this holiday ornament is an instant keepsake, conjuring stage magic with every shake.
Anthropologie took the sugar-sweet spirit of a fairy, etched it into crystalline glass, and dreamed up a rather enchanting holiday coupe. This glass set’s sparkling ombré finish dazzles against golden metallics woven through the collection, transforming a favorite dance into something you can sip from.
Striped like a candy cane, this cotton viscose stocking comes lined with bells and finished with a cream bow for an extra-sweet touch on your Christmas mantel.
Meet the only stocking holder worthy of its neighboring stocking. With a pose as commanding as the nutcrackers on stage, it leans into the same theatrical sensibility. It’s also one of the collection’s most collectible pieces, something you’ll reach for year after year to elevate even the plainest stockings.
A tutu, for your Christmas tree. This skirt shimmers with a pink-and-green border, snowflake-like lines, and golden embroidered stars throughout. Modeled after the Sugar Plum Fairy’s own costume, it’s on track to become the conversation starter of your 2025 holiday hosting season.
This Sugar Plum fantasy proves that more really is more this holiday season. And if you are ready to start prepping for the holidays, McGee & Co., Magnolia, West Elm, and Pottery Barn have already launched their magical holiday collections to inspire your holiday decorating.
