9 inexpensive things I am shopping right now to make my home look expensive – no renovations required
Affordable, timeless, and high-impact – here’s what I’m shopping to elevate every corner of my home

I don't know about you, but I very much fall into the 'champagne taste, lemonade budget' camp. Which I argue just means I have a great eye and enjoy the thrill of hunting down designer-looking home pieces that don't come with the hefty price tag... but my husband might hasten to disagree.
Either way, I'm of the opinion that it's the details that truly make a home look special and instantly elevated. So, as a bargain hunter, it makes perfect sense to make the most of the Memorial Day home sales and see if I can find some low-cost updates to make my house look more expensive. And I think I've nailed the brief.
During my scroll through the sales, I found everything from designer collaborations, Nancy Meyers aesthetic pieces, and on-trend hues that scream 'a stylish person lives here' – but certainly don't shout 'discount'. If you’re looking to give your home that curated, expensive look for less, this edit is for you. Here are the pieces that I think deserve such a spotlight.
9 Memorial Day sale finds to make your home look expensive
Whether it’s a pretty lamp, a solid marble table, or a chic woven tray to corral clutter, I’ve learnt straight from the experts that a few carefully chosen items can totally transform the feel of your home. The key? Focus on timelessness, materials, and form – decor trends that make your home look more luxurious, according to interior designers.
If you're looking to dial up the richness in your home but are sticking to a budget this holiday weekend, these nine sale finds are well worth adding to basket.
As a guest, I regularly find myself impressed by the flatware at my host's homes whenever I visit. There's something so unique about weighty cutlery that makes a dinner table feel special and like you really put thought into the small details. I love the vintage style of this 20-piece faux bamboo set for four people.
One of life's easiest hacks to feel more design-led is to shop from designer collaborations with affordable brands, so you can get a little slice of their expert eye for less. I particularly admire Amber Lewis's collection with Loloi rugs, and will be grabbing this subtle, versatile checkerboard rug for my bedroom.
A little softness goes a long way in a kitchen to make it feel like an inviting space, not just somewhere you cook and clean. When sharing her Shea McGee Memorial Day sale picks, the McGee & Co. founder said this plaid oven mitt stole the show in her latest shoot and recommends hanging it over the range cooker to elevate the space.
I can't quite believe that these lamps, sold as a set of two, are from Amazon. Created by a New York-based team, these stylish wicker lamps are made with a classic eye for design. I personally think they'd look right at home in a Nancy Meyers-inspired living room or bedroom.
Not only is this classic linen bed base 46% off in the Wayfair sale, but it also comes highly recommended with one customer saying it: 'looks super high end once it's all set up. Such a great piece for the price!' Plus, its timeless style means it's worth investing now as you're sure to still love it in years to come.
Speaking of Amber Lewis, when the designer recently declared that every space should have a tiny table, I took note. I love this scalloped, travertine-like end table designed by Sarah Sherman Samuel for her Lulu and Georgia collab. It's perfect for both in and outdoors for resting drinks, a lamp, and your book.
Bed Threads is my personal favorite for not only the softest sheets but the chicest colorways. I love the way you can create your own bedding bundles (which are currently 30% off in the sale) using their 100% French flax linens. This rich butter yellow tone is currently on my bed right now, and I'm obsessed.
