Memorial Day isn't just a federal holiday, it's also a weekend to shop great deals before summer really gets started. While it might not be as big of an event as Black Friday, all the big brands get involved – Amazon, Target, Home Depot, Walmart – and often the sales aren't just on the last Monday in May but start days, even weeks before so there's plenty of time to get shopping.

This year, the big hype was around outdoor furniture deals. It's the perfect time of year to invest in new pieces for your outdoor spaces, and good quality patio furniture can be an investment, so it makes sense to wait until the Memorial Day sales to shop. However, this isn't the only big sale happening in the summer months; next up, we have the Fourth of July sales and Amazon Prime Day.

When is the next Memorial Day sale?

Memorial Day falls on the last Monday in May, so in 2026 it will fall on 25th May. But of course, you don't have to wait that long to shop some amazing deals. Coming up, we have Fourth of July, which, much like Memorial Day, isn't just a day off work but will see brands have major sales often starting weeks before the 4th. Then there's the much-anticipated Amazon Prime Day, where we always see unmissable deals on tech, appliances, decor, and furniture. This fell towards the end of July in 2024, so we can assume it will launch at a similar time in 2025.

Going into fall, there's Black Friday, which is the biggest sale event of the year, and then we are into big sale season right up until the new year. So plenty of opportunities to bag a great deal, and we will keep you updated on all of them.

What should you shop in the Memorial Day sales?

Usually, outdoor furniture is a big focus since the end of May is ideal timing to get your patio looking its best. But this year, we saw many brands do site-wide discounts across all sections – furniture deals, mattress deals, appliance deals, and more. So really, it's a good time to shop for anything that's on your list.

'Memorial Day marks the start of summer entertaining, whatever ideas the weather has. That's why we see a big push on products like the best grills, outdoor furniture, and other items to create a beautiful outdoor setup,' explains Lindsey Davis, our eCommerce Content Director.

'This is a great time to buy, even though demand is high, because there are some really strong discounts – you just have to be fast. The other thing to look out for is discounted cookware and appliances, especially things like coffee makers and countertop cookers, which stores are looking to clear in favor of blenders, ice cream makers, and the things we use more in the warmer months.'

'The same applies for furniture and decor – our favorite retailers have some amazing clearance stock but also offer good promotions on their new lines as people transition their homes for the new season. Cooling bedding made from linen, bamboo, and cotton is one of my top purchases to get in pre-heatwave, and luckily, the sleep brands always deliver.'

What brands have Memorial Day sales?

Memorial Day sales seem to get bigger every year, and in 2025, we saw every brand we would want to shop have discounts for days running up the holiday weekend. To name a few of the major ones, Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, Home Depot, Pottery Barn, all had sales.

We also saw the higher-end furniture and home decor brands launch deals – Anthropologie, McGee & Co., Magnolia, Lulu & Georgia, Serena & Lily, Net-a-Porter. And then, of course, the big appliance brands had sales too – Dyson, KitchenAid, Ninja. Essentially, if you head to a store's site over the Memorial Day weekend, you will likely find a sale.

Memorial Day is a perfectly timed sale, just before summer gets into full swing, which is why it's so popular for purchasing all things outdoors. Luckily, we don't have long to wait until the next major sale with the Fourth of July just around the corner.
