A striking color that falls somewhere between fuchsia and magenta, raspberry pink is one of those rare paint shades that's hard not to love. An impactful hue that packs a punch in every form, it feels vibrant, playful, and summery, making it perfect to decorate with as the days become warmer.

While pale pink paints have stolen our hearts in recent years, raspberry might be taking their place this summer. A scheme drenched in raspberry paint can't help but lift the mood, and even the smallest of doses of raspberry makes a scheme feel joyous.

Inspired by royalty, this raspberry pink cloakroom evokes a luxurious feel that's evident as soon as you enter. A fitting color choice that feels playful but still praise-worthy and high-end, it transforms the cloakroom into a work of art.

'When we learned that we had been assigned the formal powder room and neighboring cloak room in the Lake Forest Showhouse, we immediately began to daydream about all that had transpired in this cloak room,' explains interior designer Sarah Vaile. 'It was while watching the uber chic series "The Crown” that it dawned upon us that cloak rooms were made for women like Princess Margaret. It is the room that provides an escape to an otherwise formal affair, where you can sneak away throughout the affair to do as you please. Thus, she became our muse for the space.'

'No color better represented Princess Margaret’s flamboyant lifestyle than her burgundy Rolls-Royce,' adds Sarah. 'When we stumbled upon a Sherwin-Williams paint color named for raspberry fermented cocktails, Framboise, we knew it needed to be that color.'

'I wanted this living room to feel like a cocoon; bold, immersive, and deeply personal,' explains Nusrat Pathan, founder of Studio Orangeworks. 'The raspberry tone felt instinctive; it brings warmth, depth, and a quiet drama that transforms the room into a statement. The panelled detailing adds shadow and character, giving the color a more timeless, layered feel.'
Acknowledging the colors that go with pink, Nusrat embraced deep, rich, grounded tones to create a sense of luxury in the living room. 'With a color this strong, I kept the styling grounded. Muted neutrals and the plaid upholstery soften the intensity, while the deep green ottoman adds a rich contrast. Warm wood, woven textures, and subtle brass accents bring in balance and a touch of understated elegance.'

Unexpected yet joyous, raspberry pink paint brings this small bathroom to life. 'The room is a guest bathroom when you come into the house on the lower floor,' says interior designer Ana Engelhorn. 'I love strong colors, and a small room where you only go occasionally is the best room to do this. Mostly because whenever you go in, it surprises you anew.'

Bringing a contemporary flair to a historic setting, the raspberry pink feels even more impactful in a smaller, more compact setting, enveloping the room entirely. While a large room drenched in raspberry would be impactful, Ana's favorite ways to use raspberry pink are, 'by using it either for accents, balancing out, or having it in a small room you are not constantly in. Or, you love it so much you put it in your living room! I believe that the most important thing is that you figure out how much you like something and in which way you like it, and you use it for that.'

Interior designer Mimi Shin made a wise choice, color-drenching this girl's bedroom in a vibrant raspberry pink. 'This room was designed for a little girl who was about three or four at the time,' she explains. 'We had a grown-up Josef Frank print in red, a wood and red bookshelf, a color-blocked pink and orange rug, and a great printed fabric with white and red from Molly Mahon at Schumacher for the window coverings, so the pink we chose had to balance these colors.'

Mimi adds, 'This is a very spirited and quite funny little girl, so the vibe was definitely uplifting and fun. The way we use color is almost definitely a reflection of the clients. Some prefer to be much more reserved about it, and we'll use it sparingly,' she explains.

'These clients love riotous color, and we have to figure out how to balance it from room to room so it's a continuous narrative rather than individual vignettes. I always suggest to a client who wants to explore using color like raspberry to start with a room where you can close the door (bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, etc).'
