It's never too early to start thinking about summer, and ice cream treats are a key part of the fun. If you kept trying to get your hands on the ever-popular Ninja CREAMi last year and missed the boat, now is the time.
This product often sells out and is rarely discounted, but it is currently $50 off in the Amazon Big Spring Sale, so I'm snapping one up before it sells out.
The Ninja CREAMi Scoop & Swirl, available on Amazon, is one of the best ice cream makers money can buy – I can't see stock sticking around for long at this price, so act fast to secure this popular small kitchen appliance.
Why The Ninja CREAMi Scoop & Swirl Is The Perfect Kitchen Upgrade Year-Round
With 13 unique one-touch programs, there’s a frozen treat for everyone. The real headline of this machine is the soft serve feature, offering ice-cream store-level desserts at the touch of a button, and all from the comfort of your own kitchen.
Of course, sweet iced treats are one of the easiest ways to keep cool during summer hosting and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, but add an artisanal homemade touch, and you have a surefire standout, especially when served in charmingstoneware ice cream bowls from Anthropologie.
The machine needs to be prepared 24 hours ahead, which, for my short patience, is teasing at best, but once it's set up, it is easy to use and offers soft serve and scoopable pints all from the comfort of your own kitchen.
Reviewed for us by Kate Schofield, they reported, 'If you're just looking for the headlines, the soft serve function on the Ninja Swirl is magnificent. From start to finish (not counting the overnight freeze, of course), the whole process took about six minutes.'
My favorite feature is the mix-in function, which lets you churn a tub in any flavor you can imagine, then customize it with whatever additions you like, whether that’s Reese’s Pieces or fresh apple and cinnamon.
With 13 functions to choose from, including milkshakes, sorbet, frozen custard, yogurt, and gelato, it’s hard to imagine ever getting bored.
It takes some practise for a perfect swirl, but it taste excellent regardless, as our tester Kate found on testing, pictured.
The Ninja CREAMi isn’t just for summer, either. Whether you're hosting a cozy fall gathering or an Easter dinner, you can’t go wrong with a scoop of an organic homemade ice cream recipe to finish the meal.
Whether it's a serving of freshly made cinnamon ice cream alongside a warm apple cobbler, or something bright and lemony after a spring feast, I can’t think of a better way to round off a menu in any season, which makes the investment all the sweeter.
As a gym rat, the option to make lite ice cream, or even protein desserts, is also an instant hit in my household, helping me to stay on track with my summer fitness goals while indulging with my friends.
There's really not much it can't do, which makes its bulky size a little easier to justify, even in my tiny kitchen, and especially while it is on sale at Amazon for $299.99.
What to Shop
Creating everything in-house is one of my favorite parts of hosting, and fresh, delicious soft serve is a rare treat that’s guaranteed to impress guests.
If you’re planning to host your own ice cream socials this summer, or want to elevate your from-scratch menus year-round, these six essential accessories are well worth considering.

Also available in Pink and Butter Yellow, these adorable ice cream bowls are the perfect finishing touch, tying the whole display together. Dishwasher safe.
Create the true ice cream truck experience at home by picking up some authentic waffle cones for your soft serve.
The Ninja® CREAMi® Scoop & Swirl comes with two one-pint containers as standard, but if you are as indecisive as I am, having an extra two-pint tubs ready to go can help expand your flavor selection through the high-demand summer months.
You don't want to be trying to balance two or three ice cream cones in one hand to add your sprinkles and toppings. These handstands give you the full ice cream store experience, and look great while doing so.
Yes, you can just use a spoon, but using a quality ice cream scoop can help you get perfect balls of ice cream when hosting, offering the perfect finishing touch to your luxury homemade desserts.
To give your guests options for their ice creams, serve up convenient toppings such as sprinkles or chocolate chips in pinch bowls. These beautiful flower bowls are ideal for Easter weekend and summer yard parties.
Enamored with the idea of outdoor hosting this summer? I also have my eye on Gozney’s latest Arc Lite pizza oven, and it might just be the upgrade your backyard gatherings have been waiting for, too.
