Bing Crosby's luxe Californian home is on the market – take a look inside
The singer's former estate combines golden-age glamor with verdant serenity – explore this West Coast utopia

Bing Crosby's former San Mateo mansion has just entered the market – with an asking price of $13.75 million.
The elegant English-Country style manor and estate, which stretches across 3 acres of this exclusive neighborhood, was built in the early '30s before Bing purchased the home in 1963. The singer, actor, and comedian is thought to be the first American multimedia star, making him one of the most celebrated faces of the 20th century. The price of this worldwide fame reportedly prompted Bing to purchase this private home for his wife and three children in a bid to escape the pressures of Los Angeles.

Further elements of this grand bygone era are visible throughout the majestic ballroom and a multitude of stately spaces, with period-high ceilings and large windows that drench the home in golden sunshine.
Though the home was exquisitely renovated in 2014, the property has retained its original charm, which is now combined with the finest contemporary amenities. According to The Wall St Journal, the current owners purchased the estate the same year for $8 million.

Listing agents, Sotherby's has advertised the home as the 'ultimate enclave with a very private and serene setting,' and they're certainly not wrong. Beyond its private gates, the estate is nestled on one of the most esteemed streets in Hillsborough – among the most sought-after neighborhoods in California.
The town is positioned between Silicon Valley and the jazz-infused city of San Francisco, where you can spend many late evenings enjoying its vibrant music scene before unwinding in this tranquil estate, in the footsteps of a timeless icon.
