• Christmas decorating ideas – set the scene for the festive season

1. The Royal Family 

Every year a stunning 20ft Norwegian Spruce tree, taken from the grounds of Windsor Great Park, is erected in the historic St George’s Hall, and this year is no exception. 

The tree was dressed with 3,000 lights, and decorated with regal red and gold mirrored ornaments. Topped with a lovely Angel dressed in a gold dress and red velvet robe.

2. Rob Lowe

Actor Rob Lowe posted this rather adorable photo of his dashing dogs, all dressed up for Christmas. Oh – and the Christmas tree – decorated in shimmering touches of gold and silver looks pretty good, too.

3. Joan Collins

Dame Joan Collins didn't waste any time with getting ready for the festivities. The English actress, author and columnist started decorating as early as the beginning of November. 

Never one to do things by halves, Joan's Christmas tree is every bit as dazzling as the lady herself. 

4. Kylie Jenner

This has to be one of the biggest Christmas trees we've ever seen. It appears that Kylie Jenner – the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner brood – has taken the 'go big, or go home' motto incredibly seriously. This tree is surely hard to beat...

5. Jane Fonda

An extravagant Christmas tree topper will never go out of style. This heavenly angel is just so eye-catching. 

But, if there was ever a competition to see who can fit the most baubles on a tree – we think Jane Fonda is a shoo-in for the win.

6. Kendall Jenner

Christmas just isn't Christmas without a garland draped across the fireplace, and it looks like Kendall Jenner is in agreement. 

This gorgeous idea from Kendall is wonderfully easy to recreate, even on a smaller scale.

7. Victoria and David Beckham

This cute video shows the Beckham's Christmas tree – plus the kids and dogs gathered in front. There's no argument that this is one of the bigger celebrity Christmas trees – we're guessing 20ft at least. And the decor? It's pretty minimal – but we're not surprised, given Victoria's elegantly pared back fashion range.

We always look forward to seeing The White House Christmas tree and this year's doesn't disappoint. There are, of course, many more than one – see more below – but this is the one that Melania is calling the WH Christmas tree.

@marthastewart48 is known for her love of decorating, so it's no surprise that she puts up more than one (it's rumored: dozens) Christmas trees – of course, she has many homes, so it's understood that there will be a few! This lovely silver tree is in her summer house – we love its snowy-dusted look.
