Penn Badgley has listed his serene vacation home in New York's Catskill Mountains (two hours north of Manhattan) for $1.7 million.
The actor, known for playing Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl and Joe Goldberg in Netflix's You, primarily resides in a Brooklyn apartment – but he would often make the approximately 130-mile journey to this vacation home hidden in the mountainous Ulster County.
Its modern-country aesthetic and verdant landscape combined makes the property one of the most unique listings in New York – and one of the world's best homes. Here, we take a look around.
Hidden on over 10 acres of private land, the home oozes a certain calm, evident before entering the front door. However, when inside, this therapeutic ambiance continues, most due to its natural wooden design features.
Flowing over three floors of living space, the home pays tribute to the surrounding landscape with country-inspired assets, including hand-hewn beams, wide-plank wood floors, and a floor-to-ceiling wood-burning fireplace that warms the open spaces.
Described as a 'timeless post and beam country home' by listing agents Sotheby's, these features help create a rustic-chic style that is a reminder of its zip code. And of course, countryside views are included in every room.
Anchored by a spacious entryway, the floorplan is described as 'ideal for entertaining'. However, no space is quite so suited to hosting as the living room.
As seen above, this space boasts a fireplace and access to surrounding porches (complete with a swing) that plays host to al fresco dinners and cocktail evenings in the summer.
Meanwhile, the kitchen is equally party-proof. The white country kitchen continues to marry a rustic and modern aesthetic – complete with a large butcher block island, a classic farm sink, a spacious pantry, and – perhaps most notably – an imported woodstove with baking capabilities.
Upstairs, the home has four bedrooms, including a primary suite with a walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom with an elegant soaking tub – overlooking the forestry surrounding the home.
Other stand-out features include the library, family room (with soaring ceilings), media room, and exercise room. Notably, the home also boasts an automatic backup generator, solar panels, and geothermal systems, so the new owner will never be without power, whoever that may be.
James Amburn and Angelica Ferguson of Four Seasons Sotheby’s International Realty currently hold the $1.7 million listing.

Nolah Original Mattress Review: perfect for side-sleepers
The Nolah Original mattress is yet another mattress from a bed-in-a-box brand. But when I put it to the test, I found a great bed for side-sleepers.
