If you don't already know the name Susannah Garrod, her stunning illustrations will surely be familiar to you. They can be seen on the menus ofThe Berkeley Hotel, where she conceived the vision for Prêt-a-Portea, their fashion-themed afternoon tea. Or at Papier, for whom she has produced a signature stationery collection.
Perhaps you attended Annabel's first Christmas Fair, where Susannah's artwork was on display. And, of course, we commissioned Susannah to illustrate our own Homes & Gardens Summer Series of events in 2019.
We are certainly in good company – Susannah's other previous clients include Cartier, British Vogue, Jimmy Choo, Emilia Wickstead, Jessica McCormack and Patek Philippe.
Susannah has been prolific in recent years, which as it turns out, is good news for us. Because from tomorrow, Thursday 9th July, until Sunday 12th July, she will be holding an archive sale of original works.
'There may be as many as 100 works from the last five years,' Susannah tells us. 'I probably won't do another for another five years!'
Susannah took a Fine Art foundation course atCentral Saint Martins and studied History of Art at Edinburgh, developing her signature figurative style using loose line sketches and watercolour on paper. Her designs are whimsical and delicate, inspired by 'her own daydreams and all things decorative'.
Susannah tells that the art available in the archive sale will be 'originals only, making way for new work in my new studio'.
'The works included in the sale are my favourite pieces - they deserve better than being kept in drawers. They are on sale for a limited time and any I don't sell I vow to frame and put on the wall!'
Prices range from £75 to £500.
