4th of July sales – everything you need to know
From the key dates and where to browse to what to buy, and how to save

Zara Stacey
When 4th of July rolls around each year, it's not just a time to celebrate Independence Day with friends and family, it's also a time to make the most of many excellent summer sales.
Many 4th of July sales actually start way before the federal holiday, with retailers often starting sale events in the week leading up the celebration. This year, we saw many patio furniture deals, big discounts on all thing sleep, and on kitchen appliances such as air fryers and coffee makers.
If you missed out on 4th July sales, then do not worry, Amazon's Prime Day shopping event usually takes place straight after towards the beginning of July, where, as a Prime Member, you can expect to save on products across all categories.

FAQs
When are the July 4th sales?
The next 4th of July will fall on Saturday 4th July 2026. Most retailers start their 4th of July sales way before Independence Day, but some continue to drop further discounts on the day and across the 4th of July weekend.
If you see something you've had your eye on and it's discounted before July 4th, we would advise to not wait around – it's always best to make the most of the deal when you see it before anything sells out.
What's best to buy on July 4th?
One of the best things to buy in the July 4th sales are grills. Most people buy a new grill in the runup to July 4th so that they're ready for a cookout. This means that most big box retailers buy lots of stock of grills so they don't run out in the key selling period. Afterwards, they have lots of stock they need to get rid of to make space for new products, which means you can find grills that should be worth thousands of dollars on sale for a lot less.

It is also a great time to shop seasonal decor and furniture before summertime properly hits, so if you're thinking your patio set or planters need a refresh, now is the time to hit the sales.
