Outdoor lighting takes center stage on your home’s facade. Whether it’s flanking the front door, illuminating the path that leads guests in, or casting a glow over the garden at night, the right fixtures do more than add safety and convenience. They enhance your home’s exterior in a way that feels polished, warm, and welcoming.
When you’re choosing your outdoor lighting, as such a visible and important design element, starting with the right retailer makes all the difference. Here, we've narrowed down our go-to brands and stores, broken down by price point and specialty, to set you down the right, well-lit path.
Luxury Outdoor Lighting
From period-inspired sconces to statement-making outdoor chandeliers, these retailers promise high-end, high-style lighting that's worth the investment.
Rejuvenation
Rejuvenation's Sadie Sconce features an industrial design and comes with a choice of more than 30 shade colors.
Rejuvenation is a go-to source for exterior lighting that looks like it’s always been there; in other words, high-quality pieces that take reference from classic fixtures and historic architecture. You’ll find industrial-inspired gooseneck sconces, lantern lighting with a French Provincial feel, and colonial-era pendants reimagined for today.
Many pieces are customizable in size and finish, which is rare at this price point and makes it a strong choice for buyers who want something that feels considered rather than off-the-shelf.

Restoration Hardware
RH's solid brass Daveux Lantern Sconce is part of Jonathan Browning's sculptural RH lighting collection.
For modern statement lighting that can hold its own against intricate architecture or a substantial facade, it’s hard to beat RH. Think oversized lanterns, iron-and-crystal outdoor chandeliers, and sleek, contemporary sconces that enhance the overall design of your home’s exterior.
The collection also includes lighting collaborations with creatives like master glass artist Alison Berger and interior designers Timothy Oulton and Jonathan Browning, which gives many of the pieces a more distinctive, high-design feel.

You’ll find sage green lantern pendants, Art Deco-inspired lights with laser-cut details, and cast-brass downlights inspired by ships' funnels. It’s an especially good option if you're after outdoor lighting that feels distinctive and a little more design-forward than the norm.

Outdoor Lighting FAQs
What Makes Outdoor Lighting Different Than Indoor Lighting?
Outdoor lighting may look similar to indoor styles, but the difference is in the durability. Outdoor lights are designed to withstand rain and wind, and are usually "damp-rated," or safe to use in wet locations. Outdoor lights are given an IP (Ingress Protection) safety rating, which "grades the resistance of an enclosure against the intrusion of dust or liquids," according to the International Electrotechnical Commission.
Can You Use Indoor Lighting Outside?
It is generally not advised to use indoor lighting outdoors, with the exception of indoor/outdoor string lights, or portable fixtures and table lamps that can be brought inside when not in use.
