It doesn't feel right to heat the whole house when I'm the only person in, but as I work from home, I need to be warm throughout the day, and sometimes, layering up in sweaters and blankets isn't enough.

That's why I use a space heater, and park it right next to where I sit so I can stay cozy whenever it gets cold. And you can do the same with this $35.99 Antarctic Star Space Heater at Wayfair, discounted from $62.48 for a limited time.

This tiny space heater can be carried with one hand to whichever room you're spending time in, to protect yourself from the cold weather without racking up your energy bill.

I always felt bad turning on the heating when working from home, knowing that our energy bills are going up while only I enjoy the benefit. So when my parents donated their old space heater to me, I was thrilled that I'd found a way to keep myself warm during these colder months, without sending my home's bills sky high.

Mine's an ancient model, and no doubt less effective than the modern heaters you'll find these days, but regardless, it warms me up and makes my home office cozy even when it's cold outside.

And with stronger airflow, different heating modes, and a more compact size to easily carry it around the house, this Antarctic Star Space Heater is a better choice than my old heater in every way. It's why I'm considering upgrading, as it's only $35.99 right now, to keep my home warm all day.

The Antarctic heater has two warmth levels, can heat up in two seconds, and will automatically turn off if it's knocked over or starts overheating. And if, like me, you like to stay warm in the evening and before bed, it has a carry handle to easily take it from room to room, and can help you postpone when you first turn your heating on, and avoid having it on every night to keep your bills low.

It's a 1500W heater, and based on average energy prices across the US, that should cost roughly $0.22 to $0.26 per hour to run.

All Weather Heating & Cooling published that heating the whole house can cost around $0.10 to $0.30 per hour per square foot – and as the average US household is larger than 2,000 square feet, using a space heater instead is a significant way to slash your energy bills.

Actually, when speaking to our trusted HVAC experts about this stylish space heater, Air Conditioner Lab technician Josh Mitchell told us that space heaters, heated blankets, and zone heating in general are becoming popular options to curb our spending on energy.

It makes sense from a practical standpoint. Sure, it's comfortable knowing you can walk into any room and it'll be warm, but while we're all collectively trying to lower energy bills, there isn't much use in heating the rooms we're not spending time in.

It's why I'm always recommending a space heater to my friends and family. It's cheaper to run, more environmentally-friendly, and can really make your own immediate area feel cozy when you're spending a big chunk of the day in one place.

The Antarctic Star Space Heater is available for $35.99 in Wayfair's Way Day sale.
