Diane Keaton's former Lloyd Wright-designed home is a mid-century modern treasure trove – it's listed for $12.8 million

The actress purchased an iconic property in the Pacific Palisades, which she lovingly renovated – today, it's as timeless as ever (and in need of a new owner)

Apart from her prolific acting career, Diane Keaton is known for her love and appreciation of mid-century modern architecture – so much so that she once owned and renovated the Newman Residence, a Lloyd Wright-designed (yes, son of Frank Lloyd Wright) in in Pacific Palisades' Rustic Canyon.

Now, the mid-century modern wonder has hit the market for $12,880,000, giving someone the chance to take on a significant piece of contemporary design history.

The sprawling California home includes five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and 4,386 square feet of space. Let's peek inside.

The white and wood palette (a staple of MCM), is present throughout the home, starting out with the living area. A brick fireplace is decorated with sculptural artwork as a makeshift mantle, while a low-profile, white and wood sofa is positioned for optimal lounging.

Art is definitely a motif in the space, whether via hanging paintings or more sculptural works, such as this hanging, pendant-style work next to the fireplace.

The kitchen mixes modern and traditional materials, with a simple, wood dining table flanked by woven stools, while a stainless-steel oven disrupts the unpainted, wood cabinets it is surrounded by.

We love the smart storage solutions in the kitchen, especially how the fridge is surrounded by cubby-sized shelves that are perfect for holding mugs, glasses, or even condiments.

A separate dining area is positioned in front of a window, with stunning views of the canyon. A glass, circular table and rattan chairs are highly complementary in this space.

The master bedroom is a high point. Custom, low-profile bookshelves cover the entirety of one wall, while the neutral bed is set against a ribbed wall, acting as somewhat of a statement headboard.

The secondary bedroom features soothing hues of cream, greige, and light brown, as well as textured elements from the rattan rug to the suede headboard for a visually pleasing room. We love the addition of a floating shelf above the bed to house books and decorative objects.

The bathroom is compact but luxurious, with views of the lush greenery from the chrome and ceramic tub.

Further proof that daybeds are back, this home features a wood one with compact cabinetry.

Finally, the backyard pool is an oasis, with terracotta tiling lining the perimeter and cool, white patio chairs (one of the best colors for patio furniture) sitting close by.

Diane Keaton's former home is listed with Diana Braun at Compass.
