Jaclyn Smith’s Christmas Tree Is Show-Stopping, but It’s Her Classic, Pillar-Wrapped Garlands That Are Inspiring My Holiday Decor This Year

Jaclyn's Christmas decorations from last year are still just as festive and are surprisingly easy to recreate for under $30

November is here. While many (rightfully) associate this month with Thanksgiving, to me, it means I can officially start planning for Christmas without receiving any raised eyebrows.

Each year, I look back at past trends to inspire my decorations. Whether it's retro nostalgia or minimalist Christmas ideas, many past looks are inspiring this year's Christmas decoration trends. While it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the many styles gracing our screens, since I laid eyes on Jaclyn Smith's impressive decorations last year, I've ever since been set on channelling the timeless heritage look for myself.

Recreating Jaclyn's garland display is easier than you think. You might not have pillars, but these chic pieces will make any mantel, bannister, or doorframe feel just as festive and inviting.

Jaclyn's Christmas garlands are undoubtedly traditional. A lush spruce garland paired with velvet red ribbon (this Red Raw Edge Velvet Ribbon would be perfect), this simple yet elegant pairing is surprisingly impactful and entirely transforms the architecture.

Typically, you'd hang a garland on a mantle, but in Jaclyn's case, the garland adds a festive flourish that frames the entryway into the living room and connects the two rooms together. Although the room is rather grand (the chequered tiles, pillars, and high ceilings prove this), whether you're hanging a garland around your door or wrapping it around pillars like Jaclyn's, the beauty of this traditional decoration is its impact and ease, no matter the style of your space.

The garland pairs beautifully with the classic Christmas tree, too. Covered in nostalgic ornaments, the tree, just like the garlands, is a homage to past, familiar styles from many Christmases ago.

Jaclyn's Christmas garlands may at first seem simple, but they bring a real festive feel to her living room and instantly elevate her architecture. The beauty of this look is its ease; it couldn't be simpler to recreate at home for a similar heritage feel.
