Kris Jenner's modern entryway is cool, calm, and collected – experts say this low-key luxe look will dominate trends in 2024
Enter low-key luxe – the latest interior design trend to capture our imaginations...
Simple, minimalist style is taking over our home decorating choices, and we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome this laid-back style we call 'low-key luxe'.
This combination of minimalist decor and quiet luxury can be difficult to get right. Designing and crafting a pared-back space that also exudes luxurious comfort can be a tricky balance to strike, but with careful consideration, it can be achieved.
Kris Jenner's entryway, designed by Waldo Fernandez of Waldo Designs and the mother-and-son team of Kathleen and Tommy Clements of Clements Design proves that modern design and warm decor can, indeed, go hand-in-hand. Although Kris Jenner has built an empire living in the reality TV spotlight, her modern entryway was designed with peace and tranquility in mind.

Designing a low-key luxe entrance that embodies both modern and rustic design is not an easy feat, but it is important to remember that materials matter.
When planning your space, it is a wise idea to add warmth to the room with structural materials. You can do this with a wooden floor, timber furniture, or wooden ceilings. Timber not only provides the structural skeleton of many houses but also brings a special quality that ensures a space remains timeless and sophisticated.
For us, natural wood furniture never fails to bring character and luxury to an entrance, but its greatest advantage is its versatility. It can be used on walls, floors, storage, and as furniture. For a modern look choose textured finishes that show rough marks of the bandsaw for a distinctly rugged effect. Darker treatments, such as walnut, chestnut, mahogany, and timbers with red tones are also in demand.
‘This interior design trend – centered around subtle luxury – is all about creating a cocooning environment that will help you unwind physically and mentally,’ says Mandarin Stone’s creative director Louisa Morgan. Timber is abundant in nature, so there is a biophilic link at play.
