Lindsay Lohan's lighting creates the perfect 'focal point' in her bathroom – experts love the glamorous, elevating touch
The actress uses a bold and eye-catching light fixture to transform her simple bathroom – designers say her technique is easy to recreate
You know Lindsay Lohan for her role in the new Freakiest Friday film, but we know Lohan for her bathroom design, specifically her statement lighting.
We spotted the bathroom lighting in an Instagram video shared by Lohan featuring her skincare routine. The actress selected a glass semi-flush fixture with silver hardware. Its round shape sits perfectly in the inset oval of her white ceiling. The bright, reflective fixture perfectly contrasts the simple, greige space.
'Lindsay Lohan's modern bathroom is elevated by a stunning statement ceiling light that serves as both a functional fixture and a captivating piece of decor,' says Nina Lichtenstein, Westchester-based interior designer. She continues, 'The large round light, composed of overlapping rectangular glass pieces secured by metal accents, brings a luxurious and modern touch to the space. Its slightly tapered design, with the top circle of glass larger than the one below, creates a subtle yet sophisticated silhouette that draws the eye upward. In a neutral bathroom, such a statement light becomes a focal point, adding texture, depth, and a bit of glamour without overwhelming the simplicity of the surrounding decor.'

Her design choice is especially striking in neutral bathrooms. Lichtenstein tells Homes & Gardens: 'The benefits of statement bathroom lighting in a neutral space are manifold. It introduces visual interest and personality, turning a functional room into a design showcase. The reflective quality of the glass also enhances the lighting effect, scattering light beautifully around the room and adding warmth to the neutral tones.
Statement lighting is a wonderful way to create emphasis in interior design. Melissa Read, London-based interior designer at Studio Burntwood, states: 'One of the primary advantages of statement lighting is the ability to create a focal point. In a neutral bathroom, statement lighting fixtures, such as a striking pendant or a sculptural wall sconce, can instantly draw the eye and become the room's centerpiece. This visual anchor helps to anchor the space and adds a touch of visual interest.'
Read continues: 'Oversized and/or sculptural lighting pieces can instantly transform the bathroom into a design-forward space. Measure the bathroom dimensions carefully to ensure the scale of the lighting fixtures is still proportionate. Placement is also important, such as positioning vanity lights at eye level for optimal task lighting.'

Recreating this look is about choosing the right type of bathroom lighting for your space. Lichtenstein recommends: 'To replicate this look in your own home, consider choosing a light fixture with a similar blend of geometric design and quality materials. Look for pieces that incorporate glass and metal, as they add both shine and structure. Opt for a slightly oversized fixture to ensure it commands attention, and pair it with understated wall colors and minimal decor to let the light truly shine as the centerpiece of the room.'

Finally, if you are hoping to install a statement light, planning bathroom lighting is essential. Read advises: 'It's important to consider IP (Ingress Protection) rating when sourcing bathroom lighting. The IP rating indicates the level of protection against water and dust ingress, which is essential in humid bathroom environments. For bathrooms, you'll generally want to look for fixtures with an IP44 rating or higher, ensuring they can withstand moisture and steam. We also recommend opting for dimmable lighting fixtures to adjust the atmosphere accordingly. By carefully selecting the right fixtures, you can set the desired tone, whether it's a spa-like serenity or a more dramatic vibe.'
A focal point chandelier or flush mount is an easy way to transform any bathroom. In Lindsay Lohan's home, the look makes a huge splash.
