Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin Stallone’s Dining Room Didn’t Start With Furniture – Their Art-Focused Design Choice Is So Striking

Bold artworks set the tone and color palette for this vibrant space – and it's surprisingly affordable to recreate their look

As an artist himself (yes, he even has his own Instagram account dedicated to his work), it's no surprise that Sylvester Stallone's home, which he shares with his model wife, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, is filled with works from some of the most iconic artists of our time. But the couple, along with their interior designer, Martyn Bullard, have taken it one step further by making the artworks central to their whole scheme, as demonstrated in this vivid blue-themed dining room.

Decorating with art is a wonderful way to bring a room together – picking out colors, textures, or themes in the pieces can really set the tone for the whole space and make it feel purposefully curated.

Designer, Martyn Bullard shares: 'Designing around art has always been one of my greatest joys. A powerful piece doesn’t just decorate a room, it gives it purpose, energy, and direction.'

He continues: 'I love to let art anchor a space. Here, works by Damien Hirst and George Condo don’t simply hang on the walls – they set the rhythm for everything that follows. Color, finish, proportion, and mood flow outward from the art itself, layered with a sculptural chandelier that adds its own sense of drama. When art, architecture, and atmosphere are in conversation, the room feels alive – intentional, expressive, and utterly unforgettable.'

Below, I've selected some pieces inspired by Sylvester Stallone's dining room to inspire you, but this look works most effectively if you build it around your own favorite artworks. And you don't need a Hollywood star's budget to try it. A simple print or thrift store piece can work just as well as a gallery-worthy work.

Martyn Bullard adds: 'It's always really fun to decorate a room around a piece of art. I love to capture a particular color that exists in that art to really not only celebrate the piece, but to make the room come alive and provide synergy.'

Decorating with blue is a key aspect of this particular dining room, which has been dictated by the artworks. However, do be mindful of the artwork style too. If it's modern or abstract, you can be more playful with accessories, but for traditional pieces, keep the furniture and decor more classic.

Martyn explains: 'In this case, in Sylvester Stallone's dining room I pulled from the amazing artwork by George Condo ('Transitional Portrait in Blue and White') and of course Damien Hirst ('H6-5 Truth'), with that wild, vibrant Yves Klein blue, using it to lacquer a table, create a beautiful glass chandelier, and using in elements around the room – everything from glassware, the dinner plates, even vases to really create a synergy, a boldness and a real strength that tells of design passion and makes the artwork sing like jewelry.'

Picking out a strong or accent color from an artwork in your furniture – whether that's a statement dining table (like the Moanne Anhelo Dining Table from 1st Dibs) in Sylvester Stallone's dining room, the upholstery of the chairs, or in other decorative or accent pieces – builds and layers the look. It can also draw the eye and really enhance the art itself, making it feel like the heart of the room, around which everything else is centered.

If you don't want to go quite as bold as Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin Stallone, keep the dining table neutral and change it up with some accent colored chairs instead. It's less of a commitment, whilst still creating a striking look.

Finish with touches such as vases, candle holders, and dishware that feature the accent shade from your artwork to pull the look together.
