My Winter Closet Was Bursting at the Seams Until I Found This $7 Space-Saving Fix

It instantly grants more rail space without any DIY

My closet is tiny, and I wish I were exaggerating. I have one short rail to myself, and a serious shopping problem that is simply not compatible with minimalist living.

With my fall and winter sweaters now taking up three-quarters of that space, I needed a quick fix to double storage space. The answer? These $7 hanger stackers from Amazon. Instead of five hangers on the rail, there are now five stacked vertically.

It’s the perfect way to organize my small closet affordably and quickly.

Despite decluttering my closet twice a year during my spring and fall wardrobe swaps, I still have a silly number of clothes. As I live in a rented home, I don't have the option to expand my existing closet space, so the rail is packed, and getting things in and out is a workout.

The problem is worse in fall and winter when my rail is dominated by heavy knits and thicker materials. I needed a way to organize clothes without donating the lot.

These $7 hanger hooks allow me to stack similar items together in a tiered line, rather than cramming several hooks beside one another.

I am not the only one who loves this quick fix, either. Isabella Flores, Professional Organizer at Sparkly Maid San Diego, explains, 'Connector hangers can be a great space-saving solution, especially for closets with limited hanging space. They allow you to take advantage of the vertical space beneath your closet rod, especially when you use them strategically for matching sets, lightweight pieces, or less frequently worn or accessed items.'

To make the best use of them, Isabella suggests, 'Instead of hanging heavier pieces like a wool coat, blazer, or other structured jacket on a connector hanger, try reserving connector hangers for lighter fall and winter clothes like cardigans, flannel, and long-sleeve shirts and tops or even pants.' This then creates a little more space for thicker materials without them being crushed.

'Always double-check hanger compatibility and weight limits before use (just because a connector hanger can technically hold five hangers, that doesn’t mean you should stack five sweaters!)' she adds.
