I was sick of my ugly desk lamp bringing down my home office's style – so I have switched it for this modern organic paper version that's just $17
It's modern, organic, and emits a soft, soothing glow. This paper lamp might be my favorite Prime Day find, and it's perfect for making my home office more inviting

It seems like everyone is decorating with paper lamps these days. From their globe-like shape to their light-as-air fabrication, these lamps are an attractive home decor feature that I, for one, can't seem to get enough of. Since I most often see them sold as hanging pendants, this clever paper desk lamp from Amazon caught my eye – it's petite, but just as stylish as its larger cousins. Not only that, but it's on sale for Amazon Prime Day.
This desk lamp has the same features as typical paper lighting, just in a smaller form. Because of its rice paper shade, it emits a soft, radiant glow that can create a cozy and inviting ambience. And since it's small in size, it can fit almost anywhere – use it as a desk lamp (as I plan to), place it on your nightstand, or let its attractive design style a bookcase.
Aside from that, its shape and texture make this lamp a perfectly fitting feature of the modern organic trend – an interior design trend that has captivated design lovers like myself over the past few years.
While other paper light variations can be quite pricey, this model comes in at less than $20 with its Amazon Prime Day discount.
This paper lamp is quite small at just 9.8" x 9.8". However, its soft and glowing light output can make a big impact in your room. It assembles easily – simply unfold the rice paper shade, attach the metal base, and plug in the cord to light it up. To turn it on and off, a switch is attached to its power cord.
I'm a firm believer that the simplest designs make the most impact in home decor, and this paper lamp is proof. With its warm yellow light output and chic round shape, this desk lamp has the potential to create a soft and inviting atmosphere in your home office – and looking at the reviews it's bright enough to work by too.
Aside from my praise, this paper lamp has received some glowing reviews (pun intended). One person wrote that they're obsessed with the lamp, saying it's even more beautiful in person. 'I've gotten so many compliments on this lamp already – it's definitely a conversation starter! But beyond its good looks, it's also super functional and provides great task lighting for my desk,' they wrote.
So, if you're like me and you can't seem to escape the paper lamp trend, now is the time to jump in. If you love the trend, but after a slightly different style, find three equally as stylish paper lamp choices – all of which are on sale for Prime Day – below.
Design expertise in your inbox – from inspiring decorating ideas and beautiful celebrity homes to practical gardening advice and shopping round-ups.
If you're looking for something with more height, this paper lamp is for you. It stands roughly 43" tall, making this lamp an ideal size to place in your living room next to a chair or couch. Its shade is made from traditional Japanese rice paper that diffuses light softly, creating an ambient glow throughout a room. Plus, its subtle wood rim provides a sleek and stylish contrast from the white paper shade. This light has two light outputs – warm yellow and bright white.
If you love the look of paper lamps, but would prefer one that hangs from the ceiling, this pick is for you. This rice paper pendant features an adjustable cord that can extend up to 98". Its shade is 23.6" in diameter and could make for a perfect choice to hang above a dining table or in a living room. Although a bulb is not included with this light, it's compatible with E26 base bulbs. Just like other paper lamps, this pendant can create a warm glow in a room.
Contrary to most rice paper lamps, this one features an elongated shade which makes it look elegant and stylish. This lamp stands about 59" tall, and features a long cord with a foot switch for convenient operation. You can choose between bright white light and warm yellow light, depending on your mood and the atmosphere you'd like to create. And since its shade is so slim, this lamp would be great for a smaller space.
If you love the Japanese-inspired design of these paper lamps as much as I do, read on to discover the Wabi-Sabi design trend, and how imperfection and asymmetry can actually make a space more desirable.
