Joanna Gaines’s ‘Glimmery Gold Goodness’ Christmas Tree Perfectly Balances Luxury With Kitsch – and the Sparkle-Drenched Look Couldn’t Be Easier to Recreate

Joanna Gaines has three words for you this Christmas season: ‘Glimmery Gold Goodness.’ It’s a phrase that captures the exact brand of whimsy we’re all craving right now – and also happens to be the official theme of the designer’s latest treescape in her idyllic Waco home. Through the tall, restored farmhouse windows, Joanna's Christmas tree decor is every bit as gilded, layered, and twinkling as the name promises.
‘Look at this tree. It’s so pretty,’ Joanna says in a recent Instagram reel, starting at the base – first clocking a scalloped–edge velvet tree skirt – and slowly panning upward. She lets us take in every last glimmering detail: the Winter Splendor Garland strung with snow–like crystal beads, and a collected yet cohesive mix of antique–inspired ornaments that align neatly with her out–with–the–new, in–with–the–old ethos.
Joanna continues the tour through clusters of Deco–adjacent details, funky geometric shapes, and frosted glass accents that drip like icicles. ‘You can get all these gorgeous ornaments online at Magnolia.com or at the shop here in Waco,’ she notes.

Of course, beautiful decor shines brightest atop beautiful bones. Joanna’s tree – a cinematic, pre-lit 7.5–foot Carolina Fraser from Terrain – sets the stage. ‘I actually got this tree at Terrain,’ she shares, noting that it was on sale during the retailer’s rare (and ongoing) 30% off holiday promo. ‘Watch this tree. It twinkles. And at night, it is just the most magical thing. I love it.’
Each piece is lovely on its own, but the real lesson in Joanna’s ‘Glimmery Gold Goodness' treescape is how precisely every element heightens the next. Warm micro–LEDs bounce off glass ornaments; the glass picks up the metallics; the metallics send the shimmer right back. Nothing competes, but everything compounds – an ethereal echo chamber, if you will.

Recreate the three–word Christmas trend soon to be on everyone’s lips with every (still in–stock) piece Joanna used in her living room.
Joanna’s Terrain tree is just north of $1,000, but if you want a similar enchanted, pre-lit look without committing to four figures, this slightly smaller Terrain style drops to roughly $400 with the current 30% off in-cart deal.
Mercury glass is usually the star of the show on its own, but here, Joanna ups the ante with gold-etched pine needles and wintry botanical motifs layered over top. The painterly effect gives the entire treescape a richer, more storied presence.
Joanna’s Christmas tree collars and skirts are selling like hotcakes. The velvet skirt featured in her video is already gone, as are nearly all the other Magnolia options – except for this one remaining gem, which brings a beautifully grounded texture to the base of your glittering setup.
Finding the perfect antique or true vintage ornament isn’t easy, but Joanna is making the hunt a little easier with these gold–and–glass Deco-inspired baubles, which stand as a barely-there twist on classic holiday decor. They’re the perfect middle ground for minimalists tiptoeing into sparkle or maximalists looking to save some visual real estate elsewhere on the tree.
Although the name of her holiday look suggests a tree drenched entirely in gold, Joanna knows a layered, balanced treescape is always the move. A little silver woven in is essential. These ornaments have a softly patinaed finish that plays beautifully with the aged–gold touches elsewhere – each one dangling like a long, elegant earring.
With their fluted edges and nostalgic silhouettes, these ornaments muse the ones you probably remember from your grandparents’ tree – only better, catching light in a way the originals never could. They’re available in blue, but the amber reads truer to the warm golden story we’re after.
Paint-splatter-everything is having a major moment this season, and per usual, Joanna is bridging the trend with her antique sensibilities. These intricately etched, leaf-shaped ornaments make even this new school accent feel lived-in – perfectly imperfect, and all the better for it.
Icicles wish they looked like this. This set of four brings the kind of frosted, enchanting finish the doctor ordered, paired with elegant, elongated silhouettes that add crucial vertical lines throughout the tree – a trick that makes even a very tall tree feel taller. Rated 4.8 out of 5 stars for good reason: fans say they’re even sparklier in person.
There are generally two camps of holiday decorators: the metallics–and–bright–white–LED loyalists, and the maximalists chasing a bygone ’90s nostalgia. Joanna, of course, is both – and she’s already shown us how to recreate the latter in her delightfully vintage ‘Kitschmas’ tree tutorial on Instagram, inspired by a request from her son.
