I swoon over vintage lighting but honestly I can't face the hassle of vintage wiring – this Anthropologie best seller gives you old hotel glamour minus the risk
Scalloped glass, antique brass, and Plaza-worthy polish

Eloise at the Plaza was a big part of my childhood. For me, it was the most aspirational children’s franchise ever made. An aristocratic six-year-old with 24/7 room service, Central Park views, and most people's bucket-list stay as her personal playground for pranks? The plot is deranged – and completely iconic. And despite no longer reading the books, I of course still love the idea of living in a luxury old-fashioned hotel.
Regrettably, importing the Palm Court’s glass dome or gold-plating your radiators is probably out of the cards, but you can borrow the charm with the (aptly named) best selling Eloise Semi-Flush Mount from Anthropologie.
I love vintage lighting, but frankly, I can't be bothered with the effort of the wiring that comes with second-hand buys, and I have been disappointed by too many flea market lighting finds that just don't work, or would cost too much to make work
With the Eloise range, I can embrace the lighting trend for vintage styles that give me a glamorous hotel vibe, but it's also damp-rated (so yes, bathrooms are fair game), LED-compatible, and comes with none of the unfortunate drama or rewiring an ancient fixture.
As swanky as a semi-flush mount gets, this best-seller is the perfect compromise between a lobby-worthy chandelier and a no-nonsense ceiling light. Somehow costing less than the Plaza’s least impressive room, it's ideal for entryways, hallways, or anywhere you want a hint of hotel-at-home.
Eloise is layered with storytelling details: the raised acanthus along the medallion, the scalloped milk glass shade (available in white or green), and a softly antiqued brass finish (though black is an option, if you’re feeling moody). It’s handmade, so expect little variations (as vintage lovers can attest, this is for the better).
It seems that I'm not the only one attempting to play hotel – or enter another era entirely. The reviews (4.7 stars, over 130 of them) are full of people praising its storied presence in bedrooms, powder rooms, even laundry closets. ‘The style sits nicely within a historic space, but doesn’t feel too “old world”,’ one reviewer writes. I’d agree – an easy, elegant lighting moment if ever there was one.

Of course, like any well-appointed suite, Eloise doesn’t come alone – she’s got sisters. Pendants, sconces, the whole entourage. These are the other pieces in the best-selling collection I have my eye on.
For something more versatile, the Eloise sconce delivers. Damp-rated, it works almost anywhere – as a living room wall lighting idea, flanking a vanity mirror or headboard, even hanging solo beside some artwork. The lavender is an unexpected favorite, but if you’re partial to the green, it's still in rotation too.
It’s a sibling to the semi-flush, but with a little more presence – thanks to the pendant drop, which makes it ideal for dining rooms, or as a kitchen lighting idea (three over an island would be fabulous).
If you want to skip the hassle of electricians, the Eloise table lamp has all the personality of its wall-mounted sisters with a simple plug-and-go cord. Style it on a living room bookshelf, writing desk, or mantle – anywhere yearning for glamour. Pink, of course, if you’re feeling true to character.
I can easily see why the Eloise range is such a popular one at Anthropologie; it's timeless, but it's also very on trend for right now, and it looks like they just keep adding new styles and colors to the collection. It's the perfect piece if you like a more transitional look, like me (I want to mix this light with some really sleek modern pieces), or if you have a more traditional space full of vintage pieces but want to ensure your lighting is modern and safe for use.
